It's probably cheap because a newer model is coming out. However, the newer model will probably offer little, if any changes, but cost considerably more. This deal is quite toasty, though. Thanks for posting! :D

bump for an VERY hot deal.

those recommended accessories are insanely expensive, don't bother.

i've never heard of this vendor before ... ? i guess they are good?

I don't think this plays DVD-r's. The Toshiba at amazon for $99 plays DVD-rs though, I think.

But the toshiba isn't progressive scan. If you have a HDTV then this would be much better than the toshiba. I would probably pick the Panasonic cp72 (5 disc progressive scan changer) over either of these players though. It seems to get better reviews @ hometheaterforum.com. After the $30 rebate available, the Panasonic can be had for about $170 + shipping.

Did a google.com search for this model.....here's two comments

something to think about if MP3's are your thing....
"Weaknesses:
BIG disappointment with MP3 playback (which i was hoping to USE more of)
MP3 (digital format) playback only outputs through ANALOG output (???) very weird!
MP3 playback only possible with DIGITAL OPTICAL cable unplugged!!! even weirder...
one must plug/unplug DIGITAL out to get MP3 playback to work... THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
"

or music.....then this would kill it.
"Shockingly, this unit does not have a "true" random mode of selecting any song from any disc. It pretends to have a random mode, and will play all the tracks on one CD in a random order before moving onto the next CD in line and repeating the process."

How does this player compared to the Panasonic CP72S 5-Disc Progressive Scan DVD Changer for $135 shipped, posted recently in another thread?

I saw this in the paper this sunday and did think it was quite a good price, this confirms my thought

I'm going to stop by six avenue shady dealers this evening if they stay open past 9pm and check it out.

From what I've heard it's not as good at MP3 playback. I ordered this one the first day it was available and it's been delivered - everything looks alright on the outside. I haven't gotten around to hooking it up yet though (exams).

I ordered a 20" Flat screen TV with built in 3 DVD changer a couple of years ago from them for $299 when it was a HOT DEAL. They were quick to deliver and nice to deal with.
