***EDIT: See update below.

http://shop2.outpost.com/product/3623655

$59.99 @ Outpost.com

$65.00 @ Fry's Electronic Stores

Item# #: 3623655

So far it is running stable at 400mhz on my Gigabyte 8PE800, been playing BF1942 and Unreal 2k3 without a problem. Haven't overclocked it thought...

Probally will go back and pickup another stick.

CAS2.5?
CAS2??
CAS3??

What memory timings!?! This sounds hot regardless 🙂 Who makes the memory?

Looks like it is made by Legacy Electronics Inc.

Chips are bare, the only thing they say are 32Mx8 DDR-7-T

Legacy is the name brand of the PCB?

Even so, CAS2.5 for $60.00 ain't bad at all IMHO. I think I'll order 2 for next day delivery (saturday delivery). Only costs $7.95 for two sticks

I called the Sunnyvale Fry's and the person told me the price $59.99. I asked what chips they were and she said they get their "generic" stuff from different sources and what she tells me now might not be what I would get if I came in. That's probably just their too-lazy-to-walk-over-to-the-cage-and-look BS answer, so take it for what it's worth.

I went to Fry's earlier today to check out the ram, and I think it does not look too good, the 7 on the chip made me think that it's a overclock 7ns chip.....

Ah.. No that's the real answer, not a "BS" answer at all. Cheap generic Fry's RAM is "GENERIC". No manufactuer, no meaningful markings on the chips. I once bought two sticks at the sametime, they didn't look remotely the same. It's a grab bag. Having said that, I've never had a problem with it at all. It doesn't overlock very well at all though. I can get my FSB 133 to FSB 138 only.

So if I'm just planning on running at DDR400 on a Canterwood board @ CAS2.5, I should be just fine...right? 😀

You picked up a stick? What speed are you at. I'm thinking about going and getting some tonight but it'd be nice to hear some more results.

I just picked up 2 sticks. I'm using a BH7 which is pickier about memory than other boards.

1 stick at 185mhz 2522 gave me a boot error
2 sticks at 185mhz 2.5733 gave me memtest errors before completing 1 loop

Looks like these are going back :frown:

edit: The chips and brand of the stick are the same as mentioned earlier in the post.

These chips are exactly the same as those on my Kingston PC2100 DDR modules. My modules don't run at 400 MHz at default voltage.

Legend are pretty ok I got some from Mwave as their generic PC2700 for real chaep to... Legend is supposed to make some of the BEST PCB's (low noise) so thi seems pretty hot to me

EDIT: I realized I had my freq settings all messed up and ended up getting another stick...

I have ran MemTest 1.2 for the last 5 hours and it has found ZERO errors running at 400mhz at default settings.

I am going to stick by my original thoughts that this is definatley a hot deal.

did you base this on the info that I posted, or do you actually have first hand experience with this memory from Legacy?!!?

Because it is working great at 400mhz on my machine.

I have 1st hand experience. My Kingston modules do run at 400 MHz at 2.6 V though.

i picked up a pair of these today. did memtest 3.0 at pc2100 speeds with 7-3-3-2.5cl. had 31 errors. went to legacy electronics website and there is no mention of them even making pc3200. bigempty, you got lucky...everyone else i'd advise you to stay away from this ram.

I got mine today and it runs just fine at 400mhz at 2.5cl....Thats good enough for me....Good deal...Thx

I got a memtest error on the second cycle. I now have 10 errors in 710 cycles. Looks like its going back to outpost. So dissapointing.

I just picked up 4 sticks of the pc2700 for the 2 Dell systems I order. All four sticks seem to be fine with me. They are $55 until April 24th.
I also picked up some corsair 512MB pc2700 cas 2.
I benchmarked these with SiSandra, but I dont know if I did it right. The Generic "Legacy" ram scored 2431 and the Corsair 2510
One question, what is better? 512mb of cas 2 ram or 1024mb of cas 2.5?
😀
