At Office Max. Imation 50-pk spindle Imation CD-Rs. Normally (Edit: my bad) $19.99. $8. instant reb. $10. MIR. = $1.99 PT.

p.s. I always love to find out things where the truth is different from current wisdom. Thumbs down in ancient Rome meant 'Spare him!' Thumbs up meant, 'Off with his head!' Thus Down=Good, Up=Bad.

I bought a 100pk of Imation CD-Rs at OM about 3 months ago and I still haven't recieved the rebate.

Could someone give me the phone # on who to contact regarding the rebate? I can't remember if the rebate was through OM or Imation. Either way I would need a phone #.

Thanks!

I always thought it was the other way around. Thumbs Up meant that the crowd like the Gladiator, Thumbs Down meant that they disliked him and wanted him killed.

Imation make some of the best cdr's. I still have a cache of Imation cdr's rated at 24x, yet I am able to burn at 40x on my Lite-on 40125S 😀

Yzzim you could check the rebates thread...lanyap has good info...the 100pk imation i think yer talking about is the 100 spinx 35 imation and 5 from OM...

re Imatiion. I don't think that Imation (formerly 3M) ever made their own CD-Rs--just farmed the production out. I haven't run my disk ID utility to find out who made the current batch that I have.

re. Thumbs up/down. The default in Rome was that the emperor always told the winner of the contest to kill the loser giving him the "t-up" or go ahead (which of course was bad for the loser). The crowd then replied with either t-up (we agree, kill the poor bstd), or t-down (we disagree, let him live). I guess you could look at it from whether you want to see someone killed or not. Remember, we currently have the modern version of "bread and circuses"--where is your head at? Which way are your thumbs pointing?

According to an old CDR thread in GH a while back I remember Imations are just some off-brand of some sort branded with the Imation label. Its still the only brand of CDR I buy though just because I don't have any problems with it

And thanks for the heads up zepper - just ran out of my 100 spindle of Imations today.

Hm... my math shows..

Normal Cost $18.99
Instant Rebate - $8.00
Mail-Rebate - $10.00

Final Cost $0.99

Do you mean it's a $7 Instant Rebate or you might mean the normal cost is really $19.99 , then the final cost would be $1.99

i saw a stupid kid in front of me getting his girlfriend to buy a 100 pack of 24x imation for $43.49. i would have said something, but i was stunned that a cute girl would hook a doofus (well, i guess he's not lol) like that up, so i didn't even mention the ad. wish i had -- the copycenter idjit didn't know how to ring up the 10% clearance and i had to go back to the other line anyway :[
disgusted at myself and everyone else involved 🙁
at least the store was full of hotties

I ran CDRId on the Imations that I have and they are by CMC Magnetics in Taiwan. The cyano... dye on these disks may be difficult to read on older or cheap drives due to the lower contrast than the dye on others like the TYs.
