* HOT: 4 port router printer server -19.99 after MIR + Cat5 cables, wireless router, 1394 card @ Microcenter for cheap *

the D-Link 704 router w/ print server is $19.99 after a $20 mail in rebate. Still pretty decent. Office Depot had a Siemens router w/ print server for $9 after $30 mail in rebate in January.

and if you got that OD deal, then that was a great deal; OD flaked on the semens order to me AFTER sending me an order confirmation. grrr.

since we don't have a time machine... this is a nice deal for the present. I was waiting for confirmation that mine shipped before I invited the anand effect w/ a thread

btw, title is "-19.99" --> that would certainly beat OD!

They also have the refurbed Epson c80 for $60
I got the c60 refrub for $40 when they had it and it was in brand spanking new condition
I'm selling my c60 so I can get this c80 instead
woohoo
😀

Anyone have experience with the SMC routers?
I like the 22mpbs one.
Im comtemplating that or a Linksys (B or G)unit.

I dont know about the SMC turbo router but. i used the other one what i think they have advertised on this special. cant remember the excat model number..but its does not work well..resets all the time..

I did see mixed reviews on this router (DI-704P) some were very happy w/ it & others said it was flakey (dropped conn & needed 2 sec reset) -

Sak: did you upgrade to latest firmware? lwd.com claimed that the firmware upgrade resolved the flakiness on this one.

$20 is pretty good for a print server & cheap router w/ a com port to use dialup backup.

The 704P is the router I've been using for a good year w/ absolutely no problems though I no longer use the print server on it becuase I like having the new Epson C80 ($60 + shipping online, $70 B&M) I picked up hooked up via the USB 2.0 cable I also picked up from MicroCenter for $2 last week.
I think the 10ft USB 2.0 cable is $0.99 this week
I love MicroCenter😀

I own a DI-704P... I say this is a Great deal. Although... I don't think the new Titanium cases have a com port like the old brown case models.. (can't remember seeing one on mine).

I have a DI-704P that I got last year on a HD @ BB for $19.99. I got the new design Titanium case model as pictured in the MC ad (I think they changed more than the case because the frimware updates are different).

When I first got it it worked well with the exception of the print server. Any print jobs sent to it would be fine for the first page but, all following pages would print the top left 25% of whatever I would try to print zoomed in over the whole page. I am using an HP Laserjet 4L which is on the Supported Printers List.

The problem must have been solved in the last firmware release because it works fine now. My wife and I use wireless on our laptops (Netgear WAP hooked to the DI-704P) and and we shoot print jobs at it all the time and it works flawlessly.

If you are using XP or Win2K DO NOT install the print server software that comes with it. Use
This setup instead. Works Perfectly.

Now that printing is fixed this is the best router i have ever used. It's fast, reliable, and great for gaming (BF1942 anyway..). The firmware also has an option to report the routers current IP address to places like dydns.org. Handy if you want to setup hosting or something, and your ISP gives out dynamic IPS's. I use it to do remote desktop to my home PC it works great.

wow - great information, ziptar, thanks. I was very sad to see that my silver case DI-704P came sans com port; that was the predecessor model, apparently; sorry re the confusion.
