Standard HTTP logs always show the referring URL, meaning the page you were at prior to the current one. So if everyone clicked the link to take them to that item, they would easily see how they were referred there. It's much more reliable than them just asking people "How were you referred to this site" They could get clever and script a nasty suprise based on this, (Redirect anyone from anandtech.com to a page saying that theyre out of stock) but that would require quite a bit of effort and would have little real use. After all, our money is just as good as anyone else's, and in this case I believe this price wasn't a mistake since it was in their clearance section.
