Not bad....but for the price of the power supply its prolly better to get the case w/the powersupply.

anyway, here is another place that have a 300w power supply for cheap

$19 + ~7 shipping.

300w power supply $19
I bought a couple of full towers from them and so far no problem with their power supply at all.

I have this power supply. It's really nice and quiet. Has all kinds of weird connectors on it. Guess it's for the newer motherboards or something.

One thing to note with the compgeeks ps is that the fan on the front (in case intake fan) basically was screwed on, and is outside of the rest of the housing. doesn't make a bit of difference, just an aesthetic thing. And the crome guard is cool.

not to thread crap or anything, but according to the AMD site, this PS is only approved for the Athlon 800 to 600 mhz. Leadman does make a quality PS, but I thought you should know this.

That's interesting, according to the manufacturer's website this powersupply is supposed to support up to 1.0 GHz.

They even link to the AMD recommended power supplies webpage.

I'm thinking of upgrading and was wondering how important this is as I'm probably going to get a 1.2 GHz Athlon?

Thanks.

This power supply is quite nice and heavy which means it's probably better quality.. has two silent (I mean it) fans in line with each other and it has chrome grills on both fans.. also has a 3 pin fan control connector and is P4 ready.. overall it's nice and I'm glad they sent me it for free as a replacement for a different 300w I had purchased..

BTW if you get it add the free toolkit if you can find the code because it's better than the 10% off anyway..

Reason it's not approved above 900 is because it's 12Volt is at 11.88 and not the full 12 and of course AMD is anal about that but it works perfect on my gig..

Whats the difference if its amd approved or not. I am running a amd duron 900 with a bootleg case and a bootlet 235v power supply...The pc boots and no problem what so ever. Is it really that important to use the approved. power supply.

Try running multiple hard drives and higher-power video cards on that 235w and watch your stability equal that of a house of cards.

Look at the wattage rating for your +12v rails and your +3.3v, +5v rails. I ran into a serious problem with a 250w Antec by running six case fans, 2 IDE HDDs @ 7200 RPM each, 2 CD drives, and my two CPU fans. I kept on crashing. Upgraded to a 330w Enermax - no problems since!

<< I ran into a serious problem with a 250w Antec >>

I think Antec is the more over rated hardware company on this forum. I bought an Antec case & PS for $89 (!) for a friend who lives in Mexico because Antec has a great reputation. Eight months later the PS exploded in his face, straying the inside of his case with acid and singing his beard, blowing out his surge supressor and tripping every circuit braker in the house. The system is more stable with some no name ATX PS he bought in Guanajuato.

I bought a couple of KS282s for $50 each delivered from Onvia and while they've given decent service, they don't have a power switch on the PS itself. Virtually every other cheap POS PS I've ever seen has a power switch on it. I have to unplug the sucker to feel half way secure when working inside the box. Not a huge deal, but not so wonderful either.
