i will do the same also...so we can just pray that we can end up with HIGH PERFORMANCE DDR PC2100

I just got my shipping notification as well.....too bad I needed the DDR when I ordered it. I got some elsewhere already. I guess i'll have 1GB of RAM now....

Anyone who gets it today keep us informed. Mine is coming second day so it will be Tuesday before I get it.

I received an email from Outpost telling me that my backorder for (2) pieces were shipped as well. I suspected that I would never see the backorder because of rising memory prices but I'm pleasantly surprised. Kudos to Outpost.com!

Just a little update..

I have the 512 MB "Cool" Mushkin ram running on my Epox 8kha+. Currently have the RAM settings on Turbo, and have had no problems..

This stuff is pretty good... and it was a bargain when I ordered..

Not me, still waiting, I ordered mine like 2 weeks ago. =(
Whoops, forgot my email address changed with Cox since they dropped at home, they did ship it.

I ordered one of these sticks and it was back ordered as well and I just recieved an email saying it's shipped at that $55 price. I totallly forgot all about it. Thanks for the deal.

I got shipping confirmation also for the two 256 stciks that I ordered. I honestly didn't expect to get this since the ram market has nearly doubled since I ordered it. Hats off to Outpost! Hell at this price, its still a great deal even if it is the budget ram.

<< Got mines today. 2 sticks of 256MB PC2100 DDR with purple heat spreaders. Looks very cool! >>

I also received my two sticks today, and they are exactly as described above; however, there is no way that I can tell whether or not this is the "high performance" type of ram by using the numbers on the ram itself, or on the outside of the packaging.

The heat spreaders do say "Mushkin Enhanced Memory Systems" on them, but the stickers do not state "high performance." I went to Mushkin's website, and found the following - note the distinction between DDR-266a and DDR-266b. Here is what I took off the website:

High Performance PC2100 DDR SDRAM

Our High performance PC2100 DDR SDRAM is the best DDR memory we have available. By combining the finest chips, printed circuit boards (PCBs) and our Mushkin heat spreader, these modules insure super fast performance and extreme stability even in the most demanding settings. PC2100 DDR uses either DDR-266a or DDR-266b chips. DDR-266b chips are rated for CAS2.5 at 266MHz operation. The DDR-266a chips are the fastest bin rated for CAS2 operation at 266MHz, we use these on our High Performance DDR SDRAM. These modules are programed for CAS 2-2-2 operation at 266MHz via the serial presence detect (SPD) EEPROM. PC2100 DDR is designed for use with CPUs which run on a 133MHz FSB (266MHz DDR). Although the increase in bus speed from 200MHz to 266MHz does translate to an increase in performance, a much larger gain comes from using DDR which runs at lower latencies. For this reason the High Performance DDR is our best DDR module available. By running at 266MHz at CAS 2-2-2 this is the fastest, most stable module available.

I wrote to Mushkin asking them to tell me what type of ram I received from Outpost and gave them every single number I found on the chips themselves and the outside packaging. When I get an answer, I will post what they say.

For those wondering why some of us seem to be so concerned about exactly what chips we received, in my case it has to be the Mushkin "high performance" ram because that is the only type that will work in my Tyan dual AMD motherboard.

'Nuff said..........so far at least!!!

tracked my shipment and airborn express said they picked it up from outpost warehouse and it is on its way...

i am highly anticipated, to see how good they ARE!!

UP to the top

<< Any updates? >>

They havent answered my email yet...............probably Monday. If so, I will post it...........otherwise, as soon as I get a response.

<< If you buy the High Perf ddr FROM MUSHKIN its cheaper to buy the 512 stick >>

This is true, however the configuration is very different for the 512. Make sure it is compatible with your system. You cannot use it in a dual AMD mobo - which is what I have.

You can double-check at Mushkin's website.........they list the mobos that are compatible with the different types of ram they have.

If I had a dollar for everytime an old post crept back into use and the author failed to change the damned adline to reflect the change in price, I'd have enough money to stop reading the damned annoying posts.

Did you ever consider that the author of the post - who has already bought, paid for, and is happy with his/her purchase - is no longer subscribed to the thread?

Time has a way of changing things............more often than not - prices!!!

Who subscribes to their posts? :Q All you have to do is look at your today page.

Not everyone necessarily checks all the time. Some of us work or go to school.

Well, I got my two sticks in today, with the purple heat spreaders on it. Does anyone have any more specific information about these modules freom Mushkin? Are these in fact the High Performance sticks?
