Hi All,
The poster show's two rebate forms from CC for a total of 140.00 in rebates, one is expired, ended on the 16/17 th If I recall correctly.
Another mamber says one rebate from CC for 70, the other rebate from WD for 70. I'm not able to locate the 70.00 rebate form for WD. Thats leaves me wondering if there is a WD rebate form for this drive. Does anyone know for sure
Thank's for your help
Ed

While I haven't picked up the drive yet, my CC was billed on 17th. I assume this means I qualify?

Quick question:

I purchased online with in store pickup.

Is my purchase date when I entered the order online (sunday)

Or is my purchase date when I pick it up (today?)

On sunday I printed out the rebates that say the 22nd is the last day but I am concerned that those are incorrect and the 2nd rebate expired on the 17th.

Also if this drive say drops to 150 or something before rebate will CC pricematch the BEFORE rebate price?

Thanks!

I went to the CC here in Madison, knowing they were out of stock. They went ahead and charged me for them for pickup later. As I'm standing there, an employee rolls up with a cart with three drives on it! W00T! Took two of em' home.

The sales guy was even really cool about getting rebates on two drives. He had no problem putting a friend's name on the the receipt for the second drive and told me I'd have no problem getting all four rebates.

So now I have 1/2 TB RAID 0! Wowie zowie...

How are the rebates still valid, online it shows only 1 $70 rebate. :(

It's my understanding that the date you order it online (and pay for it) is the purchase date for rebate purposes. I ordered online on the 16th, picked up in-store on the 17th, and the in-store pickup confirmation receipt listed my purchase date as the 16th.

so if i printed out the rebates earlier when i had the 2 rebates but haven't purchased it yet do you think it will still be valid? cause the rebate does say between the 16th and 22nd. hmm so tempting

Do I really need to use the PCI ATA100 card that is included with this drive? I'm thinking of installing this HDD on a EPoX 8RDA+ board with XP Pro SP1 and would rather not add the card. Or, is this large drive out of the size range for all motherboards.

Thanks.

BTW, warranty is for 3 years. Says so right on the front of the box.

If you figure it out, let us know. Tried a 200GB awhile back with the latest BIOS and SP1 on the 8rda+ with no luck. Perhaps I am doing something wrong.

Some good reading: Text

I have this same mobo and have been using a 160gb Maxtor as my boot drive with XP Pro SP1 and it works just fine.

I need a copy as well. I ordered on the 18th and picked up today (19th), but only one $70 rebate printed.

I know when I first looked on line, both were showing an expiration of the 22nd. Now the one shows the 17th.

There has to be something illegal about this....it isn't the first time. They did the same with the HDVR2 TiVo back in October. The online expiration was 10/04/03, then it changed to 09/30/03 after people already purchased on the 1st and 2nd.

I checked my browser cache but didn't find it.....any help would be appreciated!

My local CC (Woodland Hills) still shows the price as $249.99 - $140 MIRs = $109.99. I don't know if both rebates print out, but that would be an easy way to get an instant price adjustment. They had at least 5 WD 250GB hard drives when I went there earlier today.

That CC got a big shipment today... all the hot hard drive deals (250GB, 40GB, 120GB) were gone by noon on Sunday, but there were plenty earlier today.

I wish I had saved the 250GB Y9976 rebate to forward it others. I got into the habit of printing out the rebates when I order because of similar problems in the past. I only have a 200DPI filled out form that I saved for my records. Strange that it wasn't in my cache, either.

Here is a copy of the missing rebate that a guy over at FW posted. The other one is linked in the first post of this thread.

I just picked up mine. A quick serial number check on WD's website says 1 year warranty, and mine came with no controller card :(. I'm going back there tomorrow to see if I can get the 3 year warranty advertised on the website. I've already printed out the web site's page clearly stating there's a 3 year warranty on it. The website says nothing about the PCI card, so I guess I'm SOL there. Hopefully the drive will work on my parents' computer without it :(.

So, let me get this straight. You can use the rebate that's still up on the site, and the one ww4397 posted and still get both rebates, even though they yanked the second one? Please clarify.

They have not pulled the first rebate (Link), but edited it so that the purchase date has to be between 11/16 & 11/17, instead of 11/16-11/22. Using the PDF from ww4397, now that they have changed it, may make this YMMV. I will call CC CS and see what they say since I have a PDF of the rebate form (cleaner then ww4397's post). I would be willing to provide for someone else to host, once CC says it will honor it.

Just two quick questions from the confused guy...

1. Is this deal still on?

2. Is it 100% a sure thing?

I went out last night and picked up this drive at CC.
I showed the manager the printed rebate with the 11/16/03 - 11/22/03 and the new rebate form and asked him what he could do. He suggested to call the Circuit rebate center.

Well I just got off the phone with the rebate center and the rep there said they will honor the rebate as long as you have the printout with the 11/16/03-11/22/03 form!

Just thought I'd let everyone know that this deal seems to still be alive!

I have had nothing but bad luck with CC and double rebates....they always fill the cheaper of the 2, and i never get the 2nd one <sigh>

Can you special order this and still be eligible for the rebates?

Yes, as long as you purchase or make a down payment before the rebate expires...just spoke to CSR about that. I purchased one on 11/17 with $50 up front, rest due at pickup...CSR said that it would still be elligable for both Rebates.

Ok, I just got back from CC. Only one rebate printed out, so I pointed out that it said -$140 on the shelf. He spoke with a manager for about 10 minutes, and then they credited my card $70 plus the tax difference. He said something about how they can see it on the web if a rebate is yanked but it wasn't on there. So, the deal is still gasping for its last breath. YMMV for sure.
