Not sure if this is hot, but pcdirect.com is selling 19" Quantex flat crts for $177 with free ground shipping. There's only 4 reviews on ResellerRatings.com, but 3 of 4 are satisfied buyers. Monitor is 18" viewable, .25 dot, 1600x1200 res, and I'm not sure how they've listed the refresh rates on the site (3 numbers per resolution)? New and has 3-year warranty too. I'm not sure how to make a nice link, but here is the address:

http://www.pcdirect.com/product.asp?Sku=MOQU1925

Just a thought, I was looking for a 19" flat monitor, and may get this one. Thoughts? Hot? Not hot?

Quantex went bankrupt 3 or 4 years ago, leaving a lot of folks in bad shape for support at that time. Therefore, there is no warranty on these monitors. Buyer beware!

:disgust:

Yeah, it was crazy that they went bankrupt. They had generally good reviews - if I remember right, they even got some award from Maximum PC....

It says "3Yr Dealer Warranty " so I guess pcdirect.com is providing it? It shows up at $189.89 for me too and they want $26.41 for ground shipping.

My 19" Quantex flat CRT exploded (yes--with sound and smoke) a couple of months after Quantex disappeared :| It was almost 3 years old when that happened . . .

Is it bad for CRTs to sit around in a warehouse for a few years?

Mine also died after about 3 years. I had the same one. The picture quality was really good I thought...but if it dies on you, that doesn't do much good 🙂

It appears the price only appears as $177 w/ free ground shipping when the site is accessed through Pricewatch.com So, type: 19" Quantex Trinitron in the search area and it'll be the first site listed (PCDirect.com). I'm not sure on the warranty, or about their bankrupt status, but if it is so, then I'm guessing the "3-year" warranty must be through them. Might give 'em a call to make sure. Good luck!

$177 for a firework? hmmmmm... sounds Hot... dunno if it's a Deal though 🙂

anyone have anything good to say about this?

We owned a Quantex PC and went through 3, count them, THREE of these 19" monitors before I finally figured out what was causing them to blow. The refresh rate on our graphics card at the time was not supported by the monitor. It caused 3 of them to burn out. Since we figured out the problem, we have been running the final replacement ever since. These are nice monitors, but at $177 I think you're better off finding another 19" monitor who's company is still in business.

But for 177 bucks for a flat screen and a decent tube I don't know. I guess it's a hot deal. Tho, just remember they are already charging dump fee's for these things. These things probably have about 10-20 lbs of toxic lead in them. Not only that if you keep this for 3 years you'll probably have to dig a hole in the back yard to get yid of it.

lol, so the deal isn't hot. I just figured I'd throw it out there for you all to debate, given I myself have not owned Quantex components before. Glad we got things straigtened out. 😉
