For 3d gaming it works fine. I am going to play some UT2003 later and see how it looks but so far its wonderful. Especially considering that its a good $200-$300 cheaper than most other models. I won't comment on graphic design because well I don't do graphic design. For games though I again will state that its awesome.

Furthermore, you really shouldn't comment on it until you see it in action. How can you comment on it when you havn't seen it...lol. Lame.

Serious gamers with good hardware -- do not heed this post. Rule #1 with LCD's is that ghosting/dissatisfaction with gaming is directly linked to pixel response time. 30 ms is fine for most "normal" applications but you may run into problems playing games with high (40+ fps) framerates. The new standard for gaming is 16 ms or less.

This looks like a fine deal although again, I would think twice if you're planning on heavy gaming.

One more thing. No need to call someone an idiot in such a rude fashion. That is truly lame.

Thanks for the specs, looks pretty good for $400. I found a review somewhere for this monitor and rated it very good for games, though I dont have the link to the review anymore.

Hey Alpha, what's up? That monitor you sold me works just great. The picture quality is quite nice. As far as this deal goes, I'd say go for it if you guys can get it. I might even take a look at it for the folks....

LOL. Serious gamers with good hardware. Blow it out your arse. I have P4 2.4 and 1/2 gig of DDR ram on very nice Giga-Byte 8SRX mobo. You running Xeon's or something...lol. You people are funny. My friend bought one of these monitors and I bought two of them and I HAVE ACTUALLY SEEN/USED them and yet all you fools are having opinions without having tried nor seen them. That is truly lame. You read the specs and immediately know what the outcome is...lol. What a fool.

Furthermore, your claim of 16ms as being the new standard simply shows you read to much of tomshardware.com If you had paid attention to that review then you would know that the hitachi did not produce the best picture in some situations.

Serious gamers and new standards. You do nothing but talk a lot of trash. Buy it and then see it before you speak so ignorantly about it. This monitor rivals any other 18" LCD Period especially when you consider its only $400

Also, the idiot who said, "speaking to someone with 300+ posts" You equate number of posts with intelligence? LOL.

I played the Nascar 2003 game with over 40+ FPS and didn't encounter any problems. I guess the standard will be raised by you shortly...LOL.

If you want to truly see its capabilities then drop the $400+ tax else keep your gob shut. What is lame is opening your gob and espousing BS about something you don't know anything about in attempts to sound 'articulate or intelligent'. Its best to keep the gob shut and let people think you're a fool then to speak and remove all doubt.

serious gamers = spent all of dad's money and can't afford to get one and therefore will urinate on the parade

JohnGer,
You make a lot of valid points, but in a very annoying manner... mellow out a little and more people might see the reasoning behind your statements...

lol calling someone with 343 posts lame.

# of posts means nothing in turns of lameness.

You're absolutely right.

These people shouldn't be putting down the LCD without seeing it, but he is using WAAAAY too many "LOL"s and a little rude. Seems like an awesome deal though, too bad the CA stores don't seem to be carrying it.

JohnGer you are a complete idiot. stop bragging about your lame ass machine and just disapear, you are annoying us all.

1. cpu speed isn't the bottleneck of videogaming anymore. IT IS THE GRAPHIC PROCESSOR and SOFTWARE combined. that means a 2.4ghz machine with a bad graphic card would be slower than a 1.7 ghz machine with a good graphic card.

2. beauty lies in beholder's eyes. just because you have seen it, doesn't mean its good. maybe you have some problem with your eyes. ?_?

Went to my local Wal-Mart, asked for this LCD monitor, some 17 year-old kid just looked at my blankly for a few seconds, then asked "LCD?".
That's for living in Pocatello, Idaho. Anyway, the store did have some 17" and 15" CRT monitors.

Trust me, Pocatello is no worse than Detroit. The stores here suck. They don't carry anything and getting them to follow policy and actually price-match is hard, to impossible. I live in an area that has one of the countries most concentrated cache of tech suppliers, (according to a Detroit News article), and it still sucks. The only exception for stock supply so far has been our new Micro Center.

None here in Henrietta, NY. They only had the 17" KDS for 399, which isn't so bad.

I forgot to mention that my system was running a geforce4 4400.

As for the rudeness well stupidity doesn't deserve respect. If respect was given for stupidity then we wouldn't be going to war with Iraq.

Oh..as for the 1/2 gig of ram..well when you have 7 computer it spreads the resources thin..so I hope I am still your hero.

Btw, the monitor looks just as good this morning.

cheers

Going to check out this deal! Thanks

Was originally going to buy a Microtek last Christmas but heard the Co was in financial trouble/bankrupcy so got a Viewsonic instead. Happy with it and no trouble gaming but just too small. Liked the Microtek picture better actually.

Guess my post count makes me an Uber-Genius. ;)

512M=1/2 Gig - You must be in Advertising/Marketing. :D

Yeah northern OH is quite the large area ;) I'm gonna be checking several in my area tonight after work, but I think I'm going to be getting some OT tonight so hopefully I can get out of work w/ time enough to check. I'll post my results tomarrow after my search. Too bad my DVI converter is 150 miles away from me :/ I could hook this up duelly style w/ my 19" CRT :D If anyhting else, I"ll be keeping my CRT to do gaming and this LCD could come in really handy when wanting to watch my movies and surf the internet at the same time. I'm keeping my MIND OPEN with this LCD and I'll also post my results on the picture quality when I put it to the test in some CS, Q3, and UT and b/t the 3 I get 60-120 fps depending on the game.(I'll post this for all of you that were critical about the Nascar 2003 ;)) Cheers and good luck on the hunt ;)
