Walmart has rollbacked the price of their Iomega 4x4x6 External USB to $168.88. Staples sells the Iomega 4x4x6 for $199.99. Yeah the CDRW is not the fastest, but the price is hot for an external USB. I thought that this had a $50.00 MIR, but it is for another model. I will check to see if it is really $88.88 after MIR, but I doubt it. There is a link to the rebate, but it may not be for the right one.

Here are the facts for the HOT DEAL!:

Staples pricematch to Walmart for $168.88 - $30.00 coupon = $138.88

Really good find! I was considering to put one together for a friend (USB/IDE set + CDRW) but this beats all that!
Thank you!

Whatever happened to the $40 staples coupon? Did it expire?

This looks like a HOT deal. Thanks. :)

If you look at the SKU from the Walmart one, it is not the one for the Rebate. I called Staples and they gave me the same SKU. This SKU does not have the $50.00, but apparently there is a 4x4x6 that has a different SKU.
Pricegrabber shows 2 different SKU's for 4x4x6 . . . so 2 different models. Sorry, no rebate on this one, but you could try.

I am not sure if the Walmart stores have this in stock for this price or not. Anyone know?
If they have a few, put one on hold, then get some giftcards for $10.00 off $50.00. Buy three of them and go to the store to pay. Basically $30.00 off as well, although you cannot get the cards from Walmart.com on the same transaction.

Did you need to do pricematch at Staples with a live person? Can you do it through email/form like OD?

yeah, i am pretty confident as well that there is no rebate of this particular burner. the mfr# is 11128 on the walmart and staples version, while the one on rebate is 31475. the rebate form also includes the UPC code, but staples didn't have the UPC on their item. well, it IS 1 am so i understand, but the UPC is really the most important thing. case in point: on the maxtor hard drive/ata card rebate think, i had the UPCs for each item but did not have the serial numbers on the items (never opened them, i fleabayed them). the rebate form wanted the serial numbers, so i made them up some long numbers. got validated anyways. maxtor uses parago for its fulfillment--same company that handles staples, btw.

I agree with Muffy - see this link:
http://www.iomega.com/zipcd/predator.html

At the bottom, it says:

*Actual drive speed is 8X4X32. The speed the drive achieves depends on the interface. USB1.1 allows drive speeds of 4X4X6, USB 2.0 will allow the full 8X4X32 speeds, Firewire allow 8X4X32, and PCMCIA allows 4X4X6.

So, you're paying for a 8x4x32 drive that only currently has 4x4x6 available... seems like a rip off to me...
