I LOVE CD-Recordable.com. I buy from them exclusively. They guarantee all CD-Rs.. if you get coasters, tell them and they'll ship you new ones. I don't even think you have to send in the bad ones, but don't quote me on that. The company is based in the USA and they manufacture their own CD-Rs (pretty cool).

Customer service is amazing, and if they mess up in any way, will bend over backwards to make you happy. I recently wanted a test sample pack of 10 80min CD-Rs, but even though they claimed it was on the site, it wasn't.. so they gave me 10 80mins for the price of 10 74mins. Sweet.

Anyway, WHILE SUPPLIES LAST, you can get very high quality, guaranteed 16x 650MB CD-Rs, $19 for 100! Hit the link above, and enjoy.

UPDATE!! I just emailed them and said how www.cyberguys.com had some lower prices on 80-min CD-Rs. Ed Law wrote back and said he would pricematch for me, since I'm a good customer. This is what I'm talking about.. it's a small service dept, so if you order a lot, they'll know who you are and go the extra mile for you.

I don't mean to be pain in the @ss, but

1. These are generic, [enough said]

2. I smell an affiliation

Am I being @ss-like?

So what? Memorex is not generic, and they suck.

<< 2. I smell an affiliation >>

That's the incense you're burning. I'm not affiliated w/ them at all, I just really like their service and product quality. They've thrown in a few freebies for me here & there. I think they must have a small service team and they'll get to know you after you order for a while.

A bit, yes. :)

And here's the guarantee.

I've used these CD-Rs for over a year, and have had (guess how many?) ZERO coasters. Zip, zilch, nada.

They even sell cool colors like black CD-Rs (they resemble PlayStation CDs).

Just about every brand-name CDR you buy today is "guaranteed." But getting a replacement means shipping it back to the company (at your expense) and waiting for a new one.

If this company will really ship you replacements without receiving the old ones, that's a plus.

But keep in mind there's more to the quality of a CDR than its ability to be written to the first time. CDRs can deteriorate over the years. If you're putting anything important on a CDR that you want to make sure you can read one, two, or five years down the road, I'd definitely buy a solid brand name.

See update above.. just got a sweet-ass pricematch from CD-Recordable. 50 80-min CDRs for $22.49 instead of their usual price of $39.50.

Hear hear, but I'll even go further and say to buy solid brand name made by a solid disc manufacturer, e.g. TDK's Ritek isn't in the same class as TDK's Taiyo Yuden :).

If you check out the link provided, you can see there is no affiliate code.

I like CD-Recordable.com as a company. They're really cool, got great products and I hear they have great service (I never have had to contact them). I don't have a problem with them, but just wish their prices were lower. I've become accustomed to really cheap media, and my SCSI 8x2x20 Plextor uses almost anything stuck in them (besides 3" discs and crappy Fry's GQ stuff). However, in the past I've purchased many hundreds of discs from CD-Recordable.com and have been happy with them. I like their plain top, and the more recently manufactured ones have a clear matt coating on top to protect it (for those of you who end up with flaking discs). Their black discs are really cool, and now they have other colors. They've sent me samples of their purple, red and amber colored discs, as well as a cool tshirt (black with "CD-Recordable.com" on the front left breast). Oh yeah, the shirt and samples were sent to me FREE!!!

With the proliferation of cheap discs, I may not buy regular stuff from them anytime soon. However, I hear (I think slashdot) that CDR media prices may go up in the next year. There are two reasons why media is cheap right now. First is that there's just a huge surplus. Second is that the manufacturers are supposed to pay royalties to the patent holders of a few cents per disc, and many of them currently are not paying (pending some legal wrangling).

Anyways, I still have a few black discs left out of my spindle. As soon as I finish that bunch, I'm gonna order more from CD-Recordable.com.

Remember what I said about price-matching.. if you order as much as I do, they'll know who you are, and will cut you deals all the time.

i bought some of their stuff a while back. I was unimpressed. They were like the compusa's, unprotected tops, and they were actually thinner than what i had at the time (i think i had some TDK's). Unless they've changed, I would have to advise against them.

Unprotected tops? If you buy a spindle, the top & bottom are covered with plastic discs.

And the CD-Rs were too thin? what does that mean?

too thin meaning that some people have microscopic vision and can eyeball differences in micromillimeters. it's pretty self-explanatory right? "Too thin" meaning thinner than the status quo thickness of cdrs, perhaps even bordering on the thinnest cdr that he's ever laid eyes on.

Yep..and god knows we don't want any thin CD-Rs...

whatever the heck that has to do with anything, I'll never know. higher chance of vibration? easily broken? easier to decapitate someone with?

I used to have a spindle of these (went for a 200 CD deal with a few friends). I actually saw a tiny crack in some CD's after burning them at 8x with my former Yamaha 8x8x24 SCSI CD-RW.

I picked up a few spindles of 8x 74m media from CD-Recordable.com a ways back, and had nothing but trouble with them on the Plextor 8/20 I was using at that time. No reliable burns over 4x (some wouldn't even take a 4x burn), and most of the discs I -did- burn successfully were no longer readable after 6 months of storage in a CD wallet.

YMMV

So do you think they will pricematch for someone who never ordered?

Those trusilver ones look nice, but $1/pop? I could buy el-cheapo ones, get 50%! coasters(when its more like 1/10) and still come out ahead.
