Hot!! .05 a min to Taiwan saves me $100 a month

Bangladesh $0.333
Cambodia $0.400
China $0.055
India $0.333
Indonesia $0.117
Japan $0.066
Malaysia $0.071
Pakistan $0.333
Philippines $0.108
Singapore $0.045
South Korea $0.055
Sri Lanka $0.250
Taiwan $0.062
Thailand $0.166

I'm using a card now that has these rates. I use it to call Malaysia primarily. Does anyone know of a better card? This is a prepaid card, and has a 59 cents / 2 weeks maintenance fee. PM me if you know of a better card, or would like to get this card.

If I did my cut / paste / sort stuff right:
OneSuite long distance
  • Slight winners:
    Bangladesh-Dhaka 0.300
    Indonesia-Jakarta 0.115
    Japan 0.065
    Taiwan-Taipei 0.055
How to make this more readable / appear as a table in this forum / posting?

nekote, Are those rates for real?!? Have you been using Onsuite for long? ~.06 to S. Korea? you've gotta be kidding! How's the connection?

WOW!!!

That could be the hottest deal I've ever seen (for me), as I'm moving to Korea in a couple of weeks.

i've bene using this calling card for the last half year or so, i only have to pay $0.05 a minute, $20 for 400 minutes, it's pretty awesome, but the rates suck for cell phones in taiwan though, dunno what it's called, i'll try to find out for you guys

Onesuite rules... There's no doubt about it. I've been using it for about 6 months. The connection is great and I've only gotten a busy signal once (dialed right back and it worked.)

Just my 2 cents.

I've not been using phone2asia - rather have just recently discovered (and posted as a "Hot Deal") OneSuite.

I use OneSuite for 2.9 cents domestic, 6.5 cents to Japan.

Other than Bangladesh-Dhaka, Indonesia-Jakarta, Japan and Taiwan-Taipei, it would appear that phone2asia has better pricing.
Don't know about quality on phone2asia.

On calls to Japan, OneSuite sometimes has a bit of a spitz-spitz type of "static" and also sometimes cuts the call after 15 or 30 minutes.
Don't know if those are "teething" problems or how it's gonna' be.

Domestic, however, has so far been crystal clear.

Also, just love beating the OUTRAGEOUS in-state rates, too, by using OneSuite! 🙂
And avoiding the tax / UCF / USF BS!

Onesuite rules. I've been using them for over a year. You have to dial an 800 number first, which is painless if you program it into your phone.

Onesuite is da best!

I've been using them for over a year. Initially when I first started using them, their quality was extremely poor. Lots of dropped calls or calls that did not connect but still got charged. Their CS would refund the $$ right away when you send them a email though.

The last 3 months their quality has been on par with AT&T, MCI, SPRINT and any of the other major carriers. No monthly maint fee or connection fee (unless you are dialing from a pay phone. They say there is a $0.55 per call connection fee from payphones, but of the 200+ payphones I've used in the past year, only 2 of them charged me the $0.55 fee.)

I spend over $200 a month currently on long distance with onesuite, that's a savings of over $400 a month from when I was using sprint and at&t!

so OneSuite really don't charge anything extra besides the 2.9 cents/min? that is pretty sweet. can more ppl elaborate on this... Do minutes expire? A monthly or whenever maintainence charge? etc.

I would suggest reading OneSuite's FAQ.

You can get the price for cellphone calls at their website and the rest of Taiwan. Plus you can get an additional 10% free.

if you guys go to any asian market place/bookstore/plaza, you'll be able to find rates to taiwan and china at extremely good rates.
the phone cards are worth 20 bucks a pop, but they'll give you a discount to 18 if you pay cash. the most i've seen on a phone card is 600 minutes to taipei,
which is .03 a min if 18 bucks, or .033 if 20 bucks. usually they are around 400 minutes for 18, so .045/min

Onesuite seems like a really good plan...

however I have not found any card/company with rates lower than 7.1cents/minute to Malaysia though... that's where I call the most.

The card I listed above with the rates is what i'm using now - 7.1 cents to malaysia, cheaper than my friends calling home using college's phone plan (10 cents).

If anyone wants to get the card I'm using, PM or email me.

If anyone knows of other companies I can use for a cheaper rate, let me know.

A few people mention using calling cards (I use bigzoo.com personally) however I found that many of the calling cards - although they give a rate per minute actually have hidden charges. Well all of the cards that were sourced down here in Florida had this problem - even although this did not appear to be mentioned in any small print etc.

What happens is this
1. Dial access #
2. Dial telephone to be called'
3. Automated voice "You have 100 (example) minutes remaining....

So you chat for 25-30 mins and you have 70-75 mins remaining...well that was what I thought. It turned out that the cards I used although clearly telling me how many minutes of calls I had were not deducting the time according to the advertised rate and number of minutes used.

I called up CS to query this and even although there were no connection charges involved there were HIDDEN FEDERAL CHARGES. WTF???

Arguing with them was a no hope situation - so using the advertised rates of 5c a min to the UK and 7c a min to Hong Kong, it actually worked out somewhere around double that cost after deducting the "unknown" Federal Charges.

I highly recommend changing to the use of a web-based account such as onesuite or bigzoo - at least there the price you see is the price you pay.

For those of you continuing with the access card system available in shops etc - have you actually tracked the number of minutes you get from an ADVERTISED 100/200/400/1000 minute card?

One of the cards I used was the "Communitel" Europe - Tel Pre-paid phone card - service provided by Telefyne. Advertised rates working out to be only half of the actual cost.

Make sure you are not using the pre-paid cards under the "illusion" of getting a cheap rate 😉

fyi i have been using worldxchange for a couple years, they are almost as good as onesuite, anyway better than almost any other NON-prepaid provider I have found. they provide both dial 1 and 10-10/1--15 access -- I use the 10-15. The two rates that I use by far are interstate in US & to region 6 in mexico. the rates for these regions on two different codes:

10-10-629 : when you know call is short (fax, whatnot) -- 7.9/min US, .17 to mexico

10-15-992: 10 minute minimum - .04 US, .14 mexico band 6 (i almost alwasy use this)

these rates are 24/7 and there are no extra fees (except fed taxes); they bill right to your phone bill. I think if you get dial 1 service they give you another 5% discount. these rates have been the same for a few years now -- they wre a lot more "hot dealish" three years ago, but they are still not bad if you don't like the hassle of prepaying. I see they have other plans that are cheaper (eg onecents - .049 US/ .13 mexico)

web site

by the way, has anyone ever found a way to call cheaper to mexico than for .13 (outside of mexico city and us border area?) it would be a great help to get a better rate, we call there at least an hour a week!

edit: changed prepaid to "NON prepaid" & fixed other typos, oops

Another great thing I found out about Phone2Asia.com is that you can look at your itemize phone call on line. You see the number you called and how long and how much you were charged. Great!!!!!😀
