HostPC or Dreamhost

Looking to host a couple dozen websites off one account. Nothing to serious, looking for a decent host. Anyone with a bad experience with either one of theses hosts care to share?

Thanks

I've got 1000 add-on domains with www.telnap.com, but I don't believe everyone gets that.

It's run by DeviousTrap... otherwise there's a few other guys on the forums who have their own hosting companies... might want to ask them first.

What he said.

If you can wait, I'd wait for another "2 for 1" or "3 for 1" sale.
RossMAN is right. Joe sometimes runs specials around the holidays, so keep checking.

Very happy with HostPC here.

I bought a few HostPC accounts as gifts for my forum members during the last "3 for 1" sale and it was well worth it.

3GB/30GB for $34.99/yr is hard to beat.

I would only choose DreamHost if you plan on USING a lot of resources.

Otherwise HostPC is 100x better.

There are other choices out there.

What's your budget?

How much disk space/bandwidth do you think you'll actually use?

My current host quickpacket.net has me on a dual proc shared server because of the excessive resources I use. I often get the feeling I should be paying more than $19.95 per month. :Q

Sad thing is I can't really ask for upgrades to my account. The amount I pay currently has a lot more features than I get. I'm afraid to rock the boat.

i downgraded to a budget account becasue I dont' need the resources.. but damn... i wish i got in on a 3 for 1.. or could anyway.

and the current deal.. nice. i wouldn't mind switching to that deal either.. haha.

FARK, i clicked too fast and voted incorrectly!!!!!! HOSTPC FTW!!!!!!!!

I use dreamhost - but thats because i need the massive storage they offer...its where i backup all my pictures to. (in addition to other medium's and my raid array of course)

but their speed sucks...loading a 3mb picture can be tedius.

Personally I would stay away from HostPC. My experiece there was horrible. But others seem to love it so perhaps it was an isolated case 🙂

I'd be interested in hearing about your "horrible experience" ? If you'd like to address it to my personal email, I'll certainely look into it further.

Completely random. Some will be special sales, there will likely be a couple of "first X # of new customers" - some current customer specials, etc. If you see something that looks good, hop onboard! It'll help us plan future events as well
