anyone know of a good host where I can get FeedonFeeds up and running easily? it's all I really use on my website anymore. heh. (well, that + pic hosting)

it's killing me not to have it at work, though. it's a nice way of having 4 newspapers + a dozen blogs all on one page at my fingertips.

When I last talked to Joe he was in the Bocacom building and the lights were on thanks to generator power, this was right before midnight my time (1AM ET) and he was hoping things would be back online within a short bit.

He said the schools (3 are nearby and part of the same grid as bocacom apparently) are closed until Monday so he surmised that means power is likely to not be restored till later this week or even the weekend, else they wouldn't "officially" close those schools until Monday at least, not sure if this was just speculation or if he'd talked to someone who had information about the power situation.

Hmm. Is this for real? I changed my DNS stuff yesterday but it hasn't refreshed yet and now my site is working. I didn't upload anything ot the new location so I know it's my old settings. I guess maybe I should change the DNS stuff back as it looks like everything is working now...?

But I don't see any update on the hostpc.com site as to the current status.

Last entry on the other site says:
12:45AM ET: As Joe pulled into the parking lot at Bocacom the generators fired up and the lights went on, if all goes well perhaps things will be online in a few minutes.
But that was from 8 hours ago.

www.hostpc.com works for me as their normal site. They got it all up and running around 5:30 this morning EST time (power was up at 1, but verio had some config issues). the engineers are on site until normal power is restored they say.

You *know* he was cursing and kicking. 🙂

i think he reserved that for his little chats w/ verio and boca 🙂 Altho, w/ power, it'd make his backing up what data he needs to get a hell of a lot easier than using what he brought with him.

True. That *was* pretty ingenious though. 🙂 I would have just brought my inverter and sat in the car. LoL

You may check your dns server or cache, it may still be pinging the temporary site.

It should be 199.237.54.179

And yes it should time out on the ping. . .
