Funny 🙂 They use the same registration script as AddAction.Net hehe must be a script for that which they both liked

RossMAN - where art thou? haha

AddAction.net uses ModernBill which is considered to be the best client management software system, it's very popular among webhosts if you can afford it's pricetag.

I was trying to avoid this thread because I would only crap in it 🙁

All I have to say is thoroughly research a webhost before switching to them, after reading about 600 threads on WebHostingTalk.com I finally settled on AddAction.net and dathorn.com Nothing on the internet is certain, both of those companies could go out of business next month but they're not likely.

AddAction has been offering webhosting for over 2.5 years through it's parent company, do a search for AddAction on WHT.

dathorn has been offering webhosting in the St. Louis area for about 4 years now and on the net about 1.5 years now, again do a search for dathorn on WHT.

This is the first time I've heard of 2for1host.net, for all I know it could be totally legit but I am just very very paranoid and skeptical about webhosts who do not have a proven track record. Do a search for 2for1host on WHT, I just did and found 5 threads ... all of them were advertising.

2for1Host - Introduces Reseller Plans - Free Domain!

$6.67 a month SPECIAL

2for1Host is extending the Special for the Weekend! 50gb band For under 49 a YEAR!

need windows hosting for cheap

2For1Host... Double the hosting, Half the price --- Do the Math!

So again I'd like to stress that when you're looking for a webhost you should always:
1) Research, research, research just as if you were buying a new $2,000 TV research research research, read reviews, ask questions and research!
2) The old saying "you get what you pay for" is so true.

If you don't believe me then fine, we'll see which webhosts are still around in 9 months 😛

If you need to get a hold of me, I can be reached here 😉

well they all could very well be still around in 9 mths...and then that proves what?
or another 5yr old company could go bust tomorrow...and again, that proves what?

Yea, reseller accounts are available and the 59.95 deal can be setup as a reseller account. I don't know how much though but I don't think its that much more.
=======
And RossMan.... Your so right. But I have spent most of the day answering questions to this post and have found out that Essene has been around for about 2.5 years and have a good reputation from what I gather. I'm still looking and if I find negative information I promise to post it.

That doesn't make it a bad deal. And since 2for1host is a newer company advertising is probably what your going to see most. They ARE trying to make money. And if they go belly up in 9 months I would have gotten more of my money's worth then all of the three last hosting companies combined. And they had a proven track record!

Do these guys offer telnet or SSH? I was really needing a web host with SSH, and if they've got it - this may just be an incredible deal for me.

For security reasons, shell access is not enabled by default. In order to activate shell access on your account, you will need to fax or mail a copy of your driver's license, passport or other photo id to customer service.

What's shell access?

Funny, that's what everyone said about CW's $2 hosting... but then CW started making better and better deals for bigger and bigger $'s until everyone kinda realized that they were in for a decent sum of money and when they disappeared most people lost that decent sum of money...

I'm not one to say I told you so, but I saw right through CW's scam from the first day... It was so tempting but there was no way they could've made a profit at the prices they posted.. This place's pricing seems a LOT more reasonable for a company but still almost too good to be true... I'm just glad I'm not in search of a new webhost...

It allows to connect to the Linux computer that is hosting your web site. I think it makes administration a good deal easier and provides for a great deal of control.

I may look into this when my current contract is up with surpass...I wanna see if they sink or swim. I don't know if it's possible tho. It is my experience that when you offer people THAT much space they are more likely to use their bandwidth, which can't be cost effective. It's really easy to burn gigs of transfer with embedded media, files, ftp, and the proliferation of broadband nowadays.

Then again, this deal might be gone in a month or so...it IS a monthly special.

edit: strange how I can view their main page (2for1host.net) but I can't ping them...

Maybe they have their server and/or firewall setup not to respond to pings. It's not that uncommon of a setup.

yes, I have that enabled on my router, but why would they? I don't see why they would have that enabled...

To help prevent icmp floods against them. To stop some of the attacks, they can have certain traffic that wouldn't be used for webhosting blocked at their upstream providers.

Thats possible. When I was hosting drivers for sound cards, video cards, etc. we were hitting 15 gigs regularly.

LoL pretty funny.

I see what they've done
CheckDNS shows they changed their name servers recently. I still have ns1 and ns2.theplanet.com down for them. Perhaps they did the move but it hasn't propagated with the nameserver list so it doesn't work. 🙂

I imagine, with the eyes of AT on them, this was a bad idea. Ah well...time will tell.
