It really depends on the hosting company you go with. A lot of companies allow you to host multiple domains from a single 'shared' hosting account but there are limitations. Most companies just setup the new domains as 'pointed' domains so you get a seperate folder for them, but thats about it.. no sepearte mail (some work using an alias), no control panel, and a lot of the times the stats are shared between all of the domains. You might consider a virtual private server, which a lot of companies are offering these days. This would allow you to host as many completely seperate domains as you want.

I use a VPS account with ApolloHosting. I am pretty happy with them overall and they offered a pretty fair deal. It is 40 bucks/month (if you sign up for a year) for their start kit which gives you 1 gig of storge and 30 gig of data transfer.

Oh yeah btw my need was for hosting e-merchant sites and this host included Miva merchant with that price(+ a 25 dollar set up fee). Seems like this is a pretty good host for someone looking to set up a couple of E-commerce sites.....
