It looks really really gory. And from what people tell me it is. I don't really care to see it, I think Saw/Saw II were enough for me.

Saw it last night......wow

Gory? Yes
Good? No

All in all, the gore was really good, and there was a lot of it....but they totally fsked up the storyline and made the gore all for nothing....there was no build up, no suspense, and no real reason for the gore. They left a bunch of stuff out and it was just poorly put together. My friends and I ended up laughing at the "most scary" scenes due to the poor production....it was almost as bad as a B-Movie.....seriously folks...don't even bother

Still I'm going to have to see it for myself... I'm probably going either tonight or tomorrow.

I know how you feel....I felt the same way. Everyone told me 'dont go see it...its bad' but i just HAD to see it for myself. I loved the Saw movies, and I seriously though this idea had some potential to it....but i was highly disappointed....

I heard it was just unnecessarily gruesome without much of a plot or interesting development like SAW

Did it at least have some sex scenes? I mean, it is a hostel for crying out loud.

tom bernard (radio guy near me) said it was horrible

*if you like seeing innocent people tortured to death then by all means go see it*

he said something to that effect

does the movie SHOW the things being done to people?

<-haven't seen it

Interesting fact...the prop for the achilles heel scene is the one used in Kill Bill Vol. 1 :)

Some people need to be able to enjoy a bad movie for what it is...hot naked women for the first half and torture scenes for the second, as previously mentioned. Weak to no storyline and an unrealistic ending...but I still thought it was entertaining. Then again, I saw the movie as a respite from my usual winter-Oscar fare.

The idea is "true"...the story goes that Harry Knowles found a website claiming to sell any service you want as long as you can pay...Eli Roth and Tarantino liked the idea and ran with it and thus we have "Hostel" (I don't know which one heard about it first).

Some of it was pretty good.

I like the part where he's trying to escape by hiding underneath the pile of chopped-up body parts, while trying to pick up his severed fingers off the floor. :D

I thought it was good. Yeah, there was some gore but it wasn't to the point where the guy was swimming in blood. Pretty much only shown at times you would expect gore. But yeah, it was gruesome. I think it was more "ick" in the acts that happened than just blood flowing around like some movies do (which movie was it with lawrence fishburn where they *were* swimming in blood? really silly).
I did like how it all was kinda tied up... like in Amsterdam, the sex parlors reminded me of the uhh, torture place and how they were buying a different type of service to say the least.

In all, I wouldn't say it was a scary movie... or a gory movie... but more of a torture movie.

edit: don't go in expecting something like Scream or Nightmare on Elm Street and the like. It's not that type of movie.
