Horror movies don't do it for me anymore. Suggestions?

I don't get frightened by horror movies anymore. They are getting predictable. So, over the past year I've been going to the cemetary at night. But, outside of the usual apparitions, nothing bothers me. Over the summer I tagged along with a psychiatrist to visit some psychopaths but I've found that they and I have a lot in common. Besides, they were uncomfortable with me being there (on a side note, I've realized that psychopaths and those suffering from severe psychosis go together like peanut butter and jelly. They are a natural fit for each other). I'm thinking of visiting some out of place village in Africa for some real, home-grown black magic but I hope I'm not disappointed. Besides, it may be expensive and time consuming. Any suggestions to get frightened?

Good luck and let me know if you find anything good. My life loves horror movies and I like them too, but I don't think I've been legitmately scared from a movie since I watched the exorcist at age 8.

Nope. Just looking for some thrills that can take me to the next level. Nothing really exciting out there.

Maybe an extreme sport? I scare the crap out of myself snowboarding all the time. Also why would magic scare you as an adult?

Because getting hurt does not frighten me. I like the unknown, mysteries.

I find as I get older most of my fears don't involve myself, they involve those I love. Graveyards and movies aren't scary because their only consequences are in your head.

This quote is rich for a counterargument but I just don't have the time. Perhaps another time...

You're lying.

Cannibalism. With the money you save on buying food you can take that trip much sooner.

I'd head to Haiti instead of Africa though, for a bit of vodun to lift your spirits.

You don't know how to do your film research. There is 1000s of awesome horror movies out there.

Yeah, and I'm sure there are excellent reality television programs out there. It doesn't mean the larger genre isn't crap.

I do recognize that there are some awesome horror movies... but I don't particularly care for the genre.

Go play Doom 3.
Perhaps try reading some books most scary novels are scarier than any movie.

I've never tried them but I would recommend bath salts.

Make sure to throw a video on youtube and let us know. Thanks.

Stay home alone. Turn all of the lights off and keep ambient noise (fans, radio, etc.) to a minimum. Put on a good set of headphones.

Fire up Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
