I love scary movies.. The chill running down my spine.. the goosebumps... I LOVE IT! :D

Unfortunately there are very few titles that are genuinely scary and manage to get me.

Let me list some utter crap first that are supposed to be a "horror" movie

Blair Witch 2
I Know What You Did series
Scream series
Event Horizon
Jeepers Creepers

They are the good examples of what's not scary.. they're rather funny at times. I believe a good horror movie emphasizes on element of surprise and suspense Here are some few which I liked:

Blair Witch 1: I have to say it was pretty innovative. The myterious theme and the progressive build up (tent every nite.. hearing noises closer and closer) were very well done.
What Lies Beneath: I really needed this movie.. before this and after BW1, there were utter crap like Scream 3 and so on.. This movie was just downright thrilling..
Abyss: I watched this as kid.. I was about 9? And this movie got me scared.. I guess the whole idea of undiscovered deep sea and aliens got me.. I don't think it'd be scary at all if I watch it now (and the movie's intention isn't either)

unfortunately, I do not know any horror movies.. and I'm just eager to see some great horror flicks.. Based on this judgement, what horror movies would you recommend????

Exorcists is always a classic.

Poltergeist is another.

Recent movie that scared the sh1t out of me was Sixth Sense.

serious, you think those movies are scary? I guess it just comes from my fvcked up grandparents having me watch Faces of Death with them when I was little.

Did John Carpenter ever make a good movie?

Anyway, I liked Nightmare on Elm Street 2-4 and Hellraiser 1-2.

Jaws, I swore I never go swimming at any beach after that, I still don't.

i guess u had to see it when it came out. now with all the documentary footage of how these sharks really attack some of the scenes look really silly:) i think great whites shoot up from below and pretty much knock you out of the water while taking a nice bite, not pull you back and forth over and over hehe. still entertaining.

The Evil Dead Series
Dead Alive
Ok so not really scary but damn they are funny :D

What was your problem with Event Horizon? I really liked it.

Pitch Black is another recent horror/space movie I liked. The plot sucked but it was entertaining.

The secret to watching a horror movie is to be young. When I was <8, the simplest scenes would boggle my mind and give me nightmares. Now that I'm 35 the most I can hope for is to be suddenly startled once every other "horror" movie.

Fear... I like horror, but it doesn't really scare me.

- Hellraiser: Rox, but I'm laughing more than I'm being scared.
- Jaws: I don't see it as horror, bit boring and I'm not afraid of sharks.
- Blair Witch: Yawn.
- Scream: Humor.
- The Abyss: Exciting, fun to watch.
- Children of the Corn: Very rocking, a must-see.
- Neon Maniacs: Great fun.
- Evil Dead series: Need I say more? :)

Disgusted by some movies yes, scared no.
