Did Buffet buy his shares in the secondary market or did BOFA float a new offering just for him? If it was in the secondary market, technically BOFA did not profit from that investment at all.

So, here's the general catch-22: BOFA announces layoffs of 30,000 people and they're going to get reamed on this board for contributing to unemployment, etc but if they do nothing they've got 30,000 unnecessary employees they have to pay for so they raise fees and get reamed on this board for raising banking fees to cover costs.

I'm sure none of those losing their jobs feel this way, but BoA is rather bloated right now and really should be cutting staff.

Example: Through the flurry of mergers carried out by ex-CEO Lewis, BoA is currently operating 63 data centres. They're aiming to consolidate that down to single digits in the next few years.

I forget - was the acquisition of Countrywide at the behest of the government, or did BoA screw themselves with that one?

Prime consideration is that the common use of 'Bobo' in the USA is that as a common colloquialism upon the first name applied to chimps [a name given to a famous gorilla of language studies in the 1960s]. Its transition in USA English may historically be sourced back to the slave trade when numerous people of the Bobo became forced into bondage in the Americas. 'Bobo' as applied to Barack Obama is because the man is black and Bobo is a racially targetted label to demean this black man.

Now because the congress won't let Obama get anything done, Obama's popularity is down to 40%. But congressional popularity ratings are about 18%.

Maybe America wil elect a generic Republican, but when the rating of specific republicans are tested, they all hoover at about 18% popular.
