HEY! I really like peeps. They were a great part of my childhood memories of Easter. I was really upset when they ran out of them last year at the local supermarket and I couldn't have any for Easter🙁
Sorry Elita....I have to rank Peeps up (or down?) there with Circus Peanuts as some of the most inedible sweets I have come across....I admire your courage though! 😉
EDIT: In case you don't know what Circus Peanuts are..... 😛
Emos; haven't had a circus peanut in over a decade but the scary part is I used to love those too!:Q
<< They are calling out to me as I type >>
TRP--I'm counting the days till Easter--then it's peeps, cadbury chocolate cream eggs, rieces cups, nestle crunch, and one severe sugar shock😀😀😀😀
p.s.--I've given my dentist a heart condition😉j/k

Are you sure we are not related? You just described my fantasy Easter basket. Actually, IT IS MY EASTER BASKET! My mother used to "hide" our baskets but leave a trail of jelly beans from our bed to the basket. Ah those were the days.
I am lucky about one thing. My wife hates peanut butter so I have no competition for the Reese's. 🙂
TRP---whoa! maybe we're just on the same brainwave😉 or sugarwave, at any rate.
Your mom sounds like a sweetie. Our parents used to always surprise us with our baskets--all the yummies mentioned above plus jelly beans and a few bubble-gum eggs.
Those were the days, indeed. Worst part is, I haven't grown up a bit! still love that stuff. And I plan to continue the tradition with my kids someday(with rigorous teethcleaning habits of course🙂)
I don't care much for the peeps or the circus peanuts, but the candy orange slices are the best! Here is link to a them for people who do not know what I am talking about Orange slices
Heh, I'm in the process of putting together baskets for my kids, my niece, and my nephew. I try to minimize the candy, though... I go with stickers, jelly pens, coloring books, CDs, etc instead.
My mother does too!! She even makes these decadent chocolate coconut eggs. Once as kids we found the key to the basement freezer (all Italians have freezers in the basement for food overflow) and my brothers and I ate about 4 DOZEN of these monsters. TOTAL PIG OUT!!!!!!!! Must have been 10,000 calories!!! Needless to say we got in big trouble but the time was worth the crime. 🙂
