Interview with the new head of homeland security.

Now there is just "man-caused disasters." Killing kids in a hijacking or bombing is now the same as accidently killing a child in a car wreck. And as a male I am offended. She should have referred to it as person caused disasters. I mean there are female disaster causing people as well.

Somehow I just have this warm glowing feeling. And what is with all these Obama administration people spending more time with the foreign media than the U.S. media which helped get them elected?

Good policy really. Do the job that needs doing, but don't turn everyone into frightened sheep at the same time.

Because the Bush administration absolutely TRASHED the US reputation in the eyes of the rest of the world...it's going to take a great deal of effort to get it back.

Agreed, but there are part of the world in which our reputation should be one of respect, and leaders in the world who should strongly reconsider any plan to challenge our interests.

However, the Obama Administration needs to ensure it does not swing the pendulum too far in the other direction, and mistake respect for popularity.

Well I would just feel better if we could just round up all the man caused disastorists.

Good luck with that. Oh, and try not to create more in the process.

'Away From the Politics of Fear'

Hahahahahahahahahahaha

All we have got from this administration until 4 days ago is fear to pass our initiatives or else.

I referred to "man-caused" disasters

rotflmao

These idiots really believe if we only rename it to a nicer more gentle label everything will change. In the meantime water down the threat by giving it ia benign label.

Or it's a change of policy in not spreading 'Fear FUD'? How about this, let's compare how many times Obama refers to 'man-caused disasters' in future speeches to 'terrorism' in past GWB speeches.

Labeling an act what it is is now considered spreading fear fud? Is blowing up a school bus or detonating a market an act of terrorism or a "man made disaster"?

This is like an abusive husband not being called a wife beater but an intensive lover.

Then why the hell do we have laws against murder, rape, and assault? Using your logic the backlash from the family outweighs removing criminals off the street. Or do you hold terrorists in higher regard?
