No more TWC for the ScoobMaster household (except for my roadrunner cable modem, but that is only because I get a discount through work
)
I bought an RCA two-receiver system from TheSatelliteGuy.com that included an 18" dish, one DRD430RG receiver, one DRD450RG (dolby digital) receiver, and a full install kit (hardware and RG6 coax cable) for $39.99 shipped! Add to that free HBO & Cinemax for 3 months AND I get $50 credit on my account - GREAT DEAL!!!
It only took my friend and I about 3 hours to do it (and we are satellite rookies
). The hard parts were drilling the four mounting holes for the dish in my brick wall (with a 12-volt cordless Ryobi - my aching arm - ouch!) and then running the cables into the house (lucky to have the opening from an old & no longer used electrical service through my foundation). 15 minutes of tuning time and I have a constant 91% signal strength!
The picture quality is FAR BETTER than the analog cable, and the sound is MUCH improved (finally, real dolby digital surround to my JVC home theater)!
And the best part - goodbye inferior quality TWC @ $42/month, hello beautiful digital picture and sound at $36.89/month
