Hooking up a volcano 7+ to p41.6a

Okay, I finally got my new chip and everything. On the volcano 7+ heatsink, there are a plethora of cables coming off of the fan. There is a white three pin connecter coming off a yellow cable from the fan, then there's a red three pin coming off the three to four converter, and then there's the four pin connecter with two wires in it. Which of these wires goes where? I think the white one goes to the mother board and the four pin to the power supply and the red one gets ignored. Does this sound right?

I have the motherboard plug with the white connection with the yellow wire (the one that branches off immediately from the fan) plugged in. I also have the fan speed toggle switch plugged in and it works fine, so I'm not sure what the red connection is used for.

I don't remember my own wiring, it's at home....

the thermalright website for the volcano 7+ shows the setup of the wires, I did mine looking at the site...

did you guys try removing it so i can re-seat, i tried removing that sob and broke one of my retention clips 🙁
still works good with one broken...sigh
i plugged the white connector to the motherboard header and the 12v and left the brown connector unplugs, still works perfectly fine for me
