Hooking it all up.

I am going to be setting up my system and would like to see if some people here could give me the best advice on connecting it all together for optimum audio/visual performance. My knowledge of A/V stuff is so so, and I know you all are the ones to ask for expert advice/opinions.

My gear:
Samsung FP-T5084
3 HDMI Inputs/1 HDMI output
Optical output

Bose 3-2-1
1 HDMI (not sure if it's in or out)
Optical Input

Playstation 3 60GB
can't remember the inns and outs.

I am trying to figure out if I can hook this all up with HDMI cables, specifically with the PS3 concerning audio and visual. I couldn't quite figure out if the HDMI passed both a/v from PS3>HDTV>Bose or if I needed to have PS3>HDMI>HDTV and then PS3>Optical>Bose.

I guess the biggest question is will the FP-T5084 pass the audio to the Bose thru the HDMI cable?
I appreciate any help you can give.

I don't know where you got your specs...but your TV has 3 HDMI inputs and no HDMI outputs.

I don't see any Bose 3-2-1 system with a HDMI port...but if I am just missing it...it would probably be an out.

PS3 has one HDMI out

Are you sure the Bose 321 has HDMI? AFAIK, no Bose 321 system has HDMI in or out. Regardless, you will go PS3 to the TV through HDMI, and audio from the PS3 through optical to the Bose 321. For any other connections you may have, like a cable/sat box, you will need to use the digital coaxial audio or stereo audio inputs.

Any reason why you went with the Bose 321 over another system?

I was mistaken about the HDMI out on my TV. It is 3 HDMI and an optical .

I am pretty sure that the Bose does have and HDMI port though. Can't be certain without looking again. Will check again.

I chose the Bose 3-2-1 because about a year and a half ago I did no research at all concerning equipment and just went with what everyone else said was good. Now I do a little research here and there to make good decisions(or at least ones I'm happy with).

Bose is crap IMHO, but lesson learned and I'm moving on. If anyone can recommend a good surround for $500 or less I'd appreciate that too.

The 321 does not have an HDMI port. Use the setup that I described two posts up.

A "good surround" = a new receiver / sub / speaker set?

Bose has pretty good resale value if you want to try to ditch it and get a different set.

$500 can get you a fairly decent HTIB set.

Audio over HDMI is going to be pretty expensive though. Last time I checked, ShopOnkyo had the 605 for $300 refurb. You could use that as the basis for an audio over HDMI system and add speaker / sub to it.
