china and hong kong have entirely different currency.

china has the yuan/renminbi while hong kong has the hong kong dollar.

i just took a quiz on the capitals/currencies/boundaries and leaders of all southeast asian nations yesterday :D

I found some foreign money on the floor, enough that I'm sure whoever lost it wants it back, and unlike a lot of people, I'm not an a$$hole. I posted on the school bboards and got back a reply from someone stating they lost money from hong kong. Based on what you're saying, it's not their money. One more day of no valid replies and I'm going to just sell it to whoever pays near-fair exchange rate ;).

Hong Kong uses Hong Kong Dollars, the bills from all 3 issuing banks for the $100 dollar denomination is red. I don't have a link at the moment; I'll see if I can find one later.

Of course everyone is going to claim it's their money. How will you know if a reply is valid or not? You might as well just keep it and exchange it for American dollars.

I specified only that I found a decently large sum of foreign money. Had someone told me the correct country and the right bills (e.g. 50s, 100s, 500s, and so on), they would have either been very lucky, or legitimate.

Anyway, I waited long enough. I'm trying to sell it for US dollars and if nobody buys it, I'll take it to the airport next week, when I have to go anyway.

About $75 worth. Enough to be pleased if you find it / pissed if you lost it, but not enough to have a heart attack over.
