The Carters are old, older folks have less mass and we all shrink over time
Jill Bidens dress is very fluffed and full in this picture (and I think that dress is adorable on her)
The laid back position Jimmy has
The obvious strange camera lens, Jimmy’s feet look huge, pictures on the wall appear to be about the same size as the chairs. Everything is a little distorted

I think too that they are not on the same plane/configuration.

You have both Bidens kneeling next to them in chairs, rather than everyone seated, so gives a look of parents w/ children at the kiddie table look to it.
