Honda S2000 rumored to be resurrected in 2012

I can't see the article because it is filtered for me, but I will give it a big "BOOOO!".

FWD FTL.

I don't care much about the hybrid part, but the RWD helped made the S2000 the success it was. Definitely dissapointing.

With how bland Honda's line-up will be after the S2000 is gone, why not bring back the Prelude?

With a great engine, RWD, and the Prelude name/styling, I can't imagine it wouldn't sell like hotcakes.

The civic is nice, don't get me wrong, but there won't be (like Toyota right now) any fun and sporty cars to choose from that are more enthusiast-oriented.

RIP: MR2, Supra, RX-7, and now S2000. 🙁

I was about to say why not call it a prelude. That way you do not ruin the name/image of the S2000.

Hey don't ruin the name/image of the Prelude either, that thing is downright hideous. Honda/Acura already have heaps of FWD vehicles, they need to keep an RWD option on the table.

I'll call this rumor very unlikely, since Honda has confirmed the CR-Z will be built and it meets all those criteria. If that sketch even came from anyone in Honda, it was probably just an early design exercise for the CR-Z. There was a convertible FWD hybrid they were working on, but response was so much more positive for the CR-Z that they seem to have dropped it.

If the last-gen Prelude were RWD, I would've bought one and kept it until the wheels fell off. The body, with its long nose, just screamed RWD. Something new and similarly styled with RWD would be beyond hot. We can always dream, can't we?

That's definitely not going to be an S2000. I refuse to consider it an S car, it goes against the whole philosophy. This is more like a civic/delsol/prelude type car for the masses.

I remember being really surprised when I learned that the preludes were FWD. They are great looking little cars, and just a few hundred dollars more of parts in them would have made them awesome sports cars as well.

so it's really a prelude and not an S2k

i really hope the chrysler 200C is actually made to show these damn hippies what an electric car should be.

All I know is that I'm really quite glad that Hyundai now makes some rather nice sports coupes and sedans - complete with big engines and RWD.

Tell me about it. I have a decently powered FWD car and it pisses me off royally. I can't wait to move on to a nice RWD/AWD car.
