Honda recalls 650,000 vehicles due to transmission failures

DOH! Good thing dad replaced his '01 MDX with an '04 MDX then! Glad my Accord isn't affected either.

We all know Honda's auto transmissions aren't the smoothest, but chipped teeth? Yikes!
 
Crap, I thought our 04 Ody would be problem free. The tranny is smooth but is shifts weird. When it changes gears it "pulls" foward and then slows down and jerks.

This is coming from the kid that thinks his parents' minivan is a racecar and drives ~60mph in his neighborhood...

Slightly off topic, but a while ago I thought I remembered GM and Honda striking a deal where GM would help Honda with transmissions and Honda would help GM with engines. Anyone else remember this? What were the specifics of the deal?

I'm not sure exact details.

But I do know the Saturn Vue has a Honda 6-cylinder in it.
