Might be because they want to bring over the SX4. Though the fit would be a nice low end car, Suzuki gives you alot of car for the money.

That doesn't look half bad either but according to edmunds the fuel economy is only 24/29... I'd prefer something that gets up to the mid 30's but it's still not bad.

And I still get 33 MPG (driving like a granny).

Try buying a new Integra, though..

Just went to my local honda dealership...

They wanted $18.5k+ttl+doc fees for a stock honda fit sport 5-speed...$17.5k for a civic lx coupe 5-speed...

The fit didn't even handle as well as my stock 99 civic ex coupe (which imho doesn't handle too well stock, I was thinking of just buying a new car but it looks like my only option if I don't want to get ripped off is to throw some aftermarket suspension on for $1500)...the clutch felt REAAAALY light too.

where else would you put a K-series in a car that's lighter? Del Sol?

and I didn't know the Fit is that heavy, I was expecting 2300-2400lb

I've never been in a Yaris ... do they have that ass-poor center-mounted instrument display from the Echo?

Oh, and <fanboy> Honda > Toyota </fanboy> :D

um. the yaris has been for sale in europe for years, too, buddy. perhaps the US release coincides with a redesign for the car, but toyota isn't known for having trouble with redesigns. i think what we're seeing is the difference between a car that has a base price of 12K as opposed to one with a 14K base price. 2K can buy a fair amount of "knob quality." but that doesn't change the fact that it handles like crap and has nothing else other than toyota reliability to recommend it... which isn't enough when you're facing nissan and honda, who both can make an indestructable little car, too.

actually you're right, it's 2430-2470 depending on trim.

CRX is lighter though something like 2100 lbs, i think hasport makes motor mounts/mount kits for K series into this chassis.

If you're going to spend that much, why not just get a Hyundai Elantra?

Hmm... I was thinking about getting a new car within the next few months and I was looking at these two. Initially I think I like the Yaris a little better, but thats just from the commercials basically. I liked the looks of the smaller Yaris. I currently have a 91 Celica and I really like it, so I thought another Toyota would be good. I havent seen either of the cars outside of TV yet. I guess Ill have to try them both out. The Yaris is also quite a bit cheaper I think, but I dont know how they compare in options and stuff. Ive also been thinking about the Scions. But most likely Ill just end up getting a used car. Dont really want to spend over $10,000, but with all these cheap cars coming out it might not be bad to just get a brand new car for a good price. Im only 18 now, so these are kind of my only options at the moment, either get a good financing plan, or have my parents pay for half and pay them back over time. What else can I get for like under $15,000?

i just saw a Fit today parked on the street. it had the back seat folded down, and DAMN, there's a lot of space back there. the floor is flat, and the area is super tall (like SUV tall or taller), so you can stack things or fit them in standing up instead of lying down. perfect for a musician (me!). i figure with the added height, i could easily cram as much stuff in there as i can in my accord wagon, and in a car that is only a fraction of the total size.

Corolla is among the most boring vehicles to drive. At least you could get a Mazda 3 I or a Nissan Sentra or a Honda Civic at that price or just a few more bucks.

I've read a few instances where dealers are charging over the MSRP for a Fit, which is nuts. It is not priced that much lower than a Civic, which makes buying the Fit for over MSRP asinine. While there is a mileage increase, it's not that much.

the Versa is the ugliest car I have ever seen coming from the other side of the Ocean.
