Honda Fit, thinking of getting one

only if you can still find one.

Honda is playing it safe by importing only a handful.
People bought them out like crazy.
Dealer mark it up like crazy.

sometimes I hate Supply and Demand when it works against us 🙂

I'd suggest something like the Edmunds "Honda Fit: Prices Paid & Buying Experience" forum where there have been about 650 postings on the topic.

(They also have a Fit Hybid forum if that's what you really meant.)

Looked there and I was just wondering if it's just hype or is everyone really paying MSRP for the car. Also wanted to see if it was worth it.

i sold a canoe to a couple who had one.
overall i was imprssed with the cargo capacity and the configuration options.
they folded the seats all up and down and show'd me around it.
it strikes me as a little pricey for its size but i was impressed.

Nissan Versa is here now too.

The sub $15k market is growing.
Yea toward $20K
maxed out some examples
Aveo $16,065
Versa $18,215
Yaris $15,696
Fit $15,765

The milage isn't anywhere in line with the other compact cars, but the new VW Rabbit is a hell of a deal at 15k. Plus it actually has some decent torque for every day driving...and it's a very safe and solid car. If I were to be a wreck, I'd rather it be a Rabbit than a Yaris or the like.

I don?t know if I would want a Rabbit but I do share your concerns about survivability vs. economy.

And most likely to spontaneously fall apart.

I put over 150,000 miles combined on a '95 GTI and an '00 Passat without a single part breaking or falling off. I can't say the same for the GM products I've owned. Talk about a fit and finish nightmare on those things.

True, but maxing out a lowend car like these just seems odd. They are meant to be econoboxes. I'd rather just go buy a slightly higher end car.

Dang, $18k for a Versa?

18K is the car loaded with alot of cr@p. Versa and Fit ended up being the same price when I put in the options I wanted.
I've looked at:
Fit (top choice)
Versa (like it, if fit's are too expensive I may get one of these)
Yaris (don't like how it looks)
Rabbit (bad fuel economy, don't like VW)
Matrix (kinda old)

Anyone actually have a Fit?

buy a civic

My 2003 Civic Coupe is boring. My 1991 Civic hatchback was more fun to drive and got better gas mileage. The Fit seems like a return to the older, smaller Civic. Too bad they're playing the artificial shortage game. If it weren't for that game I'd likely be driving a Mini by now.

Convenience... I wanted to find a car that I can actually fit stuff into, yet isn't a gas guzzler. It such a pain putting anything into my current civic.
