I just went to the Honda dealership a few moments ago and test drove a Honda Fit S automatic. It was in the blue color and looked really nice. First of all, the interior is very rich looking and the seats are good. There is tons of storage space inside due to the great design implemented. You can fit a canoe or a big piece of furniture inside.

Now on to the test drive. This car is extremely quick and responsive. I was very surprised by the amount of power this car has. Road noise is also kept under control. Visibility is very nice. I didn't have time to play with the audio system but the controls are nicely laid out. I like the feel of the steering wheel as well.

On the highway, I was doing 60 and had no problem going higher. This is very surprising to me. This car, again, is very quick and goes faster instantly. As for handling, the very kind salesman told me to go around a long circle at high speeds. Wow, the car handled it great and them some.

How long until someone stuffs an Odyssey engine (V6, 244hp) in it?

Not without some serious sheetmetal work. Engine bay in a Fit is puny. K20 + blower is at least plausible. :p

Mind you, a guy did an Acura Legend (3.2L, RWD) to Civic conversion ... so I suppose with enough money, anything's possible. :)

Those VWs do not get good gas mileage considering their power and size, especially now that the diesel versions of them have been cancelled. As for the Rabbit, it gets 22/30 mpg, which is around what the Honda Accord V6 gets - no thanks.

The diesel Jetta is discontinued for the 2007 with a return, I think, for the 2008 model. We will see what numbers that car will get. Also, diesel here is $2.69 and regular gas is like $2.14 or so. Thank you for the suggesstion, though. I will consider it.

Sorry, but the Scion tC owns in the interior load capacity catagory. By folding down the back seats, I was able to bring 2 dinning table sets w/ 4 chairs each, 2 computer chairs, 2 folding chairs, a computer desk, 5 pillows, 6 dishes, and a 3x5 carpet.

Fit, though tiny, has first class passenger crash survivablity. Do your homework before your next post.

I'm still laughing from your comments on the FIT automatic being "quick".

What is your definition of slow and fast?

It is responsive and is able to increase its speed no matter what speed it is going. I don't think I said it was blazingly fast and powerful. For its engine size and price, it feels quick and agile. Acceleration is acceptable. Roll your eyes all you want. Have you driven one yet?

Give me a fvcking break. The FIT automatic does 0-60 in 10.4 seconds.

Read the damn review yourself. And no I have not driven one, why in the hell would I want to drive a car that can barely get out of its own way. With 350HP 2-Ton SUV's on the raods I think merging onto a freeway requires a bit more oomph than 109HP at a peaky 5800RPM!

SLOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW Review
