What's with the trend of putting tires on a car like that? That can't be safe or give you any performance increase.
 
Hellaflush...stupid trend that started with the VW guys. Definitely looks like ass and has started to creep into other groups such as Honda (obviously) and Subaru.
 
I was just talking about that tire trend with a friend. I'm shocked some of them even hold the bead. What about a pothole? Yikes.

They're basically installing tires on rims that are too wide for them, right?

Same reason anybody mods cars. To make it faster. Because it's fun spanking a cocky smug douche in a Corvette or Mustang when you happen to be in your grocery getting beater and they just laugh at you and assume they own you. You don't need RWD to have fun with 400 hp and to roll away from bullies in a daily driven street car that has no intention of being a record breaking track car.

Can't say I agree with the ridiculous tuner styling, but I wouldnt call B and K series turbo swaps rice.

Most guys that have real money to spend to have real work done (300+hp Civics) do it because it's fun and already have bigger faster nicer cars.

I have a 700 hp Kenne Bell Cobra but I will be swapping a ST205 JDM 255 hp 3SGTE into my 3rd gen Camry, then tuning and boosting to 350-400.

Why? Because I can't be in my Cobra all the time, and people are more likely to instigate and be smug pricks when they think they have the advantage when they see a weak ass Camry until they see the tires roast and get an ear full of open dump.

And the Camry won't earn me life in prison due to getting a door ding.
