<< I think pork is forbidend to, in the Old, but in the new, doesn't Christ throw ALL of it out, and say Love God, and Love your neighbor as yourself? >>

Jesus does not throw all the rule away. You have to understand the whole passage in Matthew.
Jesus was asked what is the most important rule and his answer is 22:37 And he said to him, Have love for the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
22:38 This is the first and greatest rule.

*If you follow this rule, you will not break any of the other laws that they have.

Ref: Matthew
22:34 But the Pharisees, hearing how the mouths of the Sadducees had been stopped, came together;
22:35 And one of them, a teacher of the law, put a question to him, testing him, and saying,
22:36 Master, which is the chief rule in the law?
22:37 And he said to him, Have love for the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
22:38 This is the first and greatest rule.
22:39 And a second like it is this, Have love for your neighbour as for yourself.
22:40 On these two rules all the law and the prophets are based.

<< New Testament stuff is better.
Almost no churches follow all the Old Testament Stuff.
>>

Do any churches follow the Ten Commandments anymore? Jesus did speak about all of them and said we should follow them, but they were first listed in the Old Testement
Have you ever done a study on the book of Revelation? It's impossible to do one correctly without the book of Daniel, which is only in the Old Testament.
Also, what Bible did Jesus have to speak from? He didn't have the New Testement, all He had was the Old Testament. I've heard that a certain percentage of the New Testament (something like 70%?) is all Scripture from the Old Testament.

There are things that we no longer follow in the Old Testament (the Old Covenant) but the Old Testament is just as important as the New one.

Edit: 4000th post 🙂

Leviticus
20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

<< So basically, the Bible is clear that eating pork and homosexuality are equally sinful? >>

lol if youre gay just live your life gay, who cares. if you go to hell for it, all the better.

<< So basically, the Bible is clear that eating pork and homosexuality are equally sinful? >>

You eat pork? Then you may just as well turn gay, cause you're going to hell anyway!

Read Lev. 18, particularly verse 22.

I'll save you the time:

LEV 18:22 " `Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

LEV 18:23 " `Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.

The question certainly isn't about me or how I live my life.
It is just a question as to how a text deals with a certain issue.
I might as well have ask about Ents in LOTR, ie., posts telling me Ents aren't real have missed the point.

I think like everyone including pastors eat pork.

I could be wrong, but from the ones Ive seen at pot lucks and the such, they eat pork just like everyone else.

<< i think the bible is cool with homosexuality, as long as you don't act it out 😉 >>

uh, well, find me a passage that states that it is "cool" with homosexuality.

"So basically, the Bible is clear that eating pork and homosexuality are equally sinful?"

No,

Romans chap 14
"20Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall."

Not all Christian pastors do.

Some denominations believe it's OK to eat pork while others don't.

Just like this homosexuality thing.

I think some of you Christians need to either take a class or read a book on hermeneutics. A good, simple, cheap book is How To Read The Bible for All Its Worth by Fee and Stuart. If you don't know where to get this book, go to Christian Book Distributers. If you can't afford it, and would honestly like a copy, I'll either give you mine or buy it for you. Please, just PM me.

It will help you translate what the bible says in the "There and Then" (Exegesis) to the "Here and Now" (Hermeneutics). Then, you will not say things like:

New Testament stuff is better.
Almost no churches follow all the Old Testament Stuff.

I think pork is forbidend to, in the Old, but in the new, doesn't Christ throw ALL of it out, and say Love God, and Love your neighbor as yourself?
No not really, he threw out many laws though, just not all.

BTW, is a sin a sin, or are some sins worse than others? Is homosexuality in the ten commandments?
Why is this stressed more than, say, lying or sleeping out of wedlock?

So basically, the Bible is clear that eating pork and homosexuality are equally sinful?

You sound like a devoted Christian.

I knew a lady who used to come near my housing project and talk to all the kids about Jesus. She also bought this guy new roller blades which costed about $300.00 at the time to come and attend church. Nice nice lady. It seems you're following the way of Christ. Praise the lord.

pigs are filthy animals and the underlings of satan 🙂

"Does this kinda mean like don't eat meat cuz you can get cholesterol and other diseases?"

I wouldn't interpret it that way. When the text was written the whole pork issue was still a hot topic of sorts. Some felt that pork should still not be eaten. Thus, if you go out to eat with your boys and one of them thinks pork is verboten then you should lay off the pigmeat for his benefit. Basically, if he thinks you're breaking the law by eating pork, it may cause him to stumble and break other laws. Something to that effect, though I don't give the argument proper justice.

well, cool with homosexuality, like it's cool with classical music.

<< i think the bible is cool with homosexuality, as long as you don't act it out >>

this is what Jesus said according to the book of Matthew:
"27 "You have heard that the law of Moses says, 'Do not commit adultery.' 28 But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust in his eye has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 So if your eye ? even if it is your good eye ? causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell."

If I can't look at pr0n and lust after women other than my wife without sinning, I highly doubt that homosexuals have some sort of exemption clause! 😱

I don't want anyone to think that homosexuals are any more "sinful" or "guilty" than heterosexuals.
On a continual basis, I pervert sexuality as much or if not more than homosexuals. We all distort God's perfect ideals for sex into something perverse and unfulfilling.
