Seems good so far but I'm starting to think the 3D aspect of the game is more of a hinderance than a boon.
I'd rather see a locked 3D perspective, basically just like the old games but in 3D instead of 2D.. I find myself rotating around and almost getting disoriented.
I like the way Warcraft 3 does this, locks the perspective, but you can zoom in and out only. HOMM5 needed to take lessons from WC3.

Other than that, while rotating around quickly in HOMM5@1680x1050, it produces low frame rates on my 7900GT. Though I do have everything set on the highest settings. I'm talking about holding the right mouse button and moving the camera around really fast.
Overall, I might not be buying this one even though I'm a huge fan of the series and bought HOMM1 for my 486 when it first came out back in the 90s.
I figured I wouldnt like the way they would implement the 3D and I was right.. it does look nice though.

So what do you think?
 
well i would give it a whirl (on another computer), but im kinda worried if starforce is bundled with it, even though ubi has gotten rid of it for its future games.

but you're getting low frames with a 7900GT? dang, whats the rest of your system look like?

I thought in the press release they said HOMM5 would not be the only game without starforce?

Hm i thought i read that HOMM won't have Starforce... but i don't remember where i read that.

Anyways, i haven't tried the demo yet, but i did try the beta, and it ran fine on my system.
 
Dont take the "performance" issue out of hand.. if you read my post I can only make it stutter by doing what I described.. it by no means is sluggish otherwise..

My rig is no slouch.. 2.7ghz A64, 1gb ddr400, nf4, 7900gt, 400gb seagate 7200.8 raid-0
