Price aside, im interested in service and no huge increases over time.
Any one with experiences from Cotton State or AllState. Those are currently the lowest bidders in ATL.

I'm in TN a mear 108 miles from you. We have a compnay called Farm Bureau Insurance. I'm not sure if they have support in Georgia, but they undercut everyone else by about $200 a year, but required a $25/year membership fee. I'm going to research it a little more and see if I can find anything in GA.

Call around and get quotes. Don't bother with Gieco, they're a reseller for Travelers. Liberty mutual was the cheapest for me by $200.

Who do you have your auto insurance through? Typically, discounts are given if your auto and home insurance is through the same carrier. My auto coverage is with State Farm, and they gave me the lowest quote for HO insurance last year (beating Farm Bureau as well).

American Express/Ameriprise (through Costco) is what I use for both car and home - GREAT discounts over other providers.

I keep my Costco card for this reason and to get gas - don't really shop there.

I use USAA for everything. Mortgage, homeowners insurance, auto insurance, and auto loan.

Allstate (in some states) has a new homeowners policy that is VERY inclusive.
No matter who you go with, make sure you get replacement cost for your contents as well as for the structure.

Yeah, but State Farm ripped off all those people in New Orleans by changing engineering reports. They said that water damage was the cause of the houses being "blown apart" when, in fact it was wind. Then they shredded the evidence. I will never do business with them for that reason...

I second that Geico's company for HO insurance is expensive. They priced insurance about $300 higher than my current comany.

State Farm is notorious for claims problems. Do some googling and visit with your states Insurance Commisioner's office about the customer satisfaction of residents in your state.

it was not just state farm that did stupid bullshit. they all did. then they waere able to get the courts to agree that houses NOT On the ocean front that were damaged by water was caused by flooding and not the hurricane.

but it does not worry me. i am not in a flood zone or hurricane area. only real things i have worry about are tornado's and a fire etc

Another idea: Check with your state insurance department. They should have a list of insurers for you, along with customer complaint index (is the company better or worse than the average in getting customer complaints) and the financial health of each insurance company (ability to pay in case of claim).

I did this in TX, and found a stable insurance company with a good history and below average customer complaints. Their rates are lower than any of the big names such as Geico, Allstate, State Farm, etc...
