Homemade BURN-Proof setup?

I was wondering, could I assign my burning/mastering process (software) to 1 cpu and everything else to the other cpu to reduce the chances of buffer under-run caused by other apps 'stealing' processor time?

Mike Lin's SMP Seesaw utility allows the user to dedicate 1 cpu to 1 or 2 process and all other process to the other cpu, in a dual cpu (i.e. BP6 mobo) setup. Does this make sense? Anyone ever do this type thing?

When im burning stuff on my celly 464 i get around 5% of cpu usage. The only time i ever get any buffer under-run errors is when i open couple of apps and my hard drive starts swapping like crazy.
It turns out that my 17gig maxtor drive cant supply enough data to my burner when its opening up 2-3 apps at the same time. Solution.... ibm gxp 75 :D

So, are buffer underruns caused only by HDD and CD-ROM 'over activity' and not by over cpu usage?

It is almost always concurrent HD or CD-ROM use. A 486 is fast enough to keep an 8x burner well fed.
