Why do you hate America? Why do you hate the Department of Homeland Security? They are working night and day to protect you and those you love from freedom hating terrorists. And now you post here supporting legal diversion. Terrorism takes many forms, from Islamic Fascism and Al Qaeda, to racist militia groups in the US. To not take them all seriously is to do a disservice to America.

If veterans and right wing groups have done nothing wrong, I don't see what the problem is. They have nothing to hide, and nothing to fear. In our post-9/11 world, many things have changed, and we have to be more vigilant against those who would do us harm. The Constitution is not a suicide pact.

I hate America? Are you freakin kidding me? Since you appear to be link challenged, let me provide you a direct quote as to the problem this report entails.

Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Law Center stated, ?Janet Napolitano is lying to the American people when she says the Report is not based on ideology or political beliefs. In fact, her report would have the admiration of the Gestapo and any current or past dictator in the way it targets political opponents. This incompetently written intelligence assessment, which directs law enforcement officials across the country to target and report on American citizens who have the political beliefs mentioned in the report, will be used as a tool to stifle political opposition and opinions. It will give a pretext for opponents of those Americans to report them to police as rightwing extremists and terrorists. You can imagine what happens then.?

Wake up people, yesterday the terrorists were radical muslims, tomorrow they could easily be whatever belief structure you adhere to. To stand behind nonsense like this is the precise definition of un-American so the better question is, why do YOU hate America?

Pretty sure he was kidding, just repackaging the claims that the authoritarian right has been using for the last 8 years.

Haha, should make for an entertaining case. These guys run around suing people for "promoting homosexuality" and other nefarious activity like banning the 10 Commandments from schools.

Though it is active in many controversial social issues and cases, the center is most widely known for its instigation, litigation and loss of the Dover, Pennsylvania intelligent design case.

And the ACLU defends some things that I dont think are right, but they also do good things. You are going to judge a lawsuit's merrits by other cases?

So, those of you complaining about this report don't believe that some returning veterans from the war could feel disenfranchised and therefore be more susceptible to recruitment by right wing extremist groups?

Because that seems pretty fucking plausible to me.

No, I'm judging the non-merits of this case on their face. Any lawsuit filed on behalf of a nutty talkshow host is very likely to contain some amusement. The lead counsel warns that the report "will give a pretext for opponents of those Americans to report them to police as rightwing extremists and terrorists. You can imagine what happens then.? i.e. Nazi Germany! Lookout!

And of course if some returning vets got recruited by a fringe group and blew up the Washington Monument the same people yelling now would be screaming "why didn't they do anything to anticipate such an event?"

No, a Congressman 1 time would get an annual pension of 3% to 5% of his salary, after they turn 60, and with a big part of the pension paid for by withholding from their salary.

Here's a summary below.

Sorry for the terrible source - Fox News.

Does the name Timothy McVeigh ring a bell?

Yes, because one nut in the 90s is relevant to what right now?

Because he fit the description of what DHS is on the look out for to a T.

Tmothy McVeigh was one out of how many veterans? Not sure the number but my guess it would be an extremely low percentage.

Don't forget about Rambo.

After WW II, a bunch of young guys that just rolled over Europe come back home and couldn't find work in the states. The motorcycle gangs (Hell's Angles) of the time caused a fair bit of trouble.

Dr Tiller was murdered recently by a right wing nutjob
the Pittsburgh police murder by a right wing nutjob
todays attack at the Holocaust Museum by a right wing nutjob

looks like the DHS was on the money.

GOOD CALL OCGUY

Funny how OCGuy quoted this:

WASHINGTON ? A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats"

It's like the Obama administration can predict the future! :Q

Anti-abortion extremist charged with murder of George Tiller

Pastor prayed for death of Tiller, now prays for death of Obama

Roeder warns of more violence to come

This reminds me of ProJo's epic self-pwnage thread.

I'm not sure how one incident = pattern?

More people have been killed by gunman who lost their jobs.

A Muslim just killed someone at a recruiting station, but there is no panic of a domestic threat.

Two of your links are for one incident, the other is for someone who speaks to themselves thinking they are talking to an all powerful being, but are not a physical threat to anyone.

And there is only one real self-ownage thread, and that is you predicting we are going to invade Iran and cancel the 08 elections.

I think we need to put you all on some terrorist watch list just to be sure :p

Libs always go into such glee when they think deaths score them political points. Nobody ever said right wing extremists didn't exist. Napi's report basically slanderd whole massive groups - like saying "southerners" are potential racial extremsits.

In any case, its telling how Media is all over this while it tippy toed over Muslim Convert that fired on military and killed one recuriter. Obama and Co's response to that was sto move Muslms up to most protected status and to have FBI lay off Muslim converts (and Black Panthers in Philly and illegal alien voters in GA).

A lot of uproar over Napi's report was the fact people knew O & Co were going to ignore Muzzies while going hypercritical on citizens of the correct political and racial profile. This seems to be the reality. I wouldn't even be surprised if O & Co want to see kooks go off. This gang of Marxocrats are not beyond doing their own Reichstag fire type provocations.

And I quote:

"The ACLU succeeded in its anti-cross agenda by obtaining a ruling in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals holding that the cross violated the so-called separation of church and state."

Dude, that's f'ing laughable. "Anti-cross agenda?!" WTF are the numbnuts @ TMLC smoking?

Haha, "muzzies"? Is that some new bigoted slur you conservatives came up with?
