So, what do the people who complained about the Bush administration spreading fear have to say?

WASHINGTON ? A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats"

Does the name Timothy McVeigh ring a bell?

Bill Ayers and co ring a bell? Clearly leftist activist organizations should be warned against!

They certainly should be. Left, Right, doesn't matter what angle you want to come from, home grown terrorists are a threat that is often forgotten.
I simply wanted to point out that in fairly recent history there was at least one case where what DHS was saying to be on the look out for had happened.

If they have evidence of this being a threat they sure should.

No, those people were already labeled suspect terrorists. What we have here are those sorts who cling to religion and guns, as the President said.

Another thread derailed by Harvey, big suprise eh?

The OP brought up "boogyman" and asked, "So, what do the people who complained about the Bush administration spreading fear have to say?"

.......and further trillions of dollars in the financial collapse due to their abandonment of all regulation and oversight of their wealthy Wall Street robber baron contributors.

"all regulation and oversight" of Wall Street was completely abandoned during Bush's tenure? Funny, you expect us to simply believe that WND is a suspect source of information, however as you prove day in and day out your lies eclipse even Bush's "alleged" lies. What a hypocrite.

Umm... Right, except for those nagging links to names, dates, facts and credible authorities in most of my posts.

Is there any part of :lips: my (_!_) you don't understand?

Your link tries to go to something on the site of another tinfoil beany right wingnut, Michelle Malkin, and it shows:

Um, I'm pretty sure we heard a few months of those 'warnings' during the election.

That was always the most ignorant statement ever uttered.

Guns and religion happen to be two of the issues that spread across party lines in a major way. They are not a (D) (R) issue.

My question is why Napolitano seems to think this needs to be warned against yet won't properly secure our borders.

Oh wait, this has nothing to do with actual security - it has to do with politics... my bad..

Uh, that was a comment in jest to the 'ignorant statement' above it.

Actually, it's not an ignorant statement at all, in fact, it's what all profiling is built upon.

I thought you were FOR profiling? At least you were last time we had that discussion.

The last statement i know nothing about so i'll leave that one alone.

So who on this forum do you believe is planning terrorist attacks on US soil?

Of course profiling is good if there is a legitimate threat.

Maybe the UK will consider you a threat when you get back?

I'd say this is a routine report and that right-wing radicals are just as dangerous as any other sort of radical. Leave it to OCguy though to think that somehow wingnuts should be exempt from threat assessments.

MIAMI (Reuters) - Right-wing extremists in the United States are gaining new recruits by exploiting fears about the economy and the election of the first black U.S. president, the Department of Homeland Security warned in a report to law enforcement officials.

The April 7 report, which Reuters and other news media obtained Tuesday, said such fears were driving a resurgence in "recruitment and radicalization activity" by white supremacist groups, antigovernment extremists and militia movements. It did not identify any by name.

DHS had no specific information about pending violence and said threats had so far been "largely rhetorical."

But it warned that home foreclosures, unemployment and other consequences of the economic recession "could create a fertile recruiting environment for right-wing extremists."

"To the extent that these factors persist, right-wing extremism is likely to grow in strength," DHS said.

The report warned that military veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with combat skills could be recruitment targets, especially those having trouble finding jobs or fitting back into civilian society.

The department "is concerned that right-wing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to boost their violent capabilities," the report said.

DHS spokeswoman Sara Kuban said Tuesday the report was one of an ongoing series of threat assessments aimed at "a greater understanding of violent radicalization in the U.S."

A similar assessment of left-wing radicals completed in January was distributed to federal, state and local police agencies at that time.

"These assessments are done all the time, this is nothing unusual," Kuban said.

The Department of Homeland Security was formed in response to the September 11 attacks of 2001 and has focused largely on threats from Islamist extremists.

Nothing to see here. Just more rampant paranoia by the usual wingnut extremists.

I can't help but notice that OCguy didn't bother posting anything about the assessment of left-wing radicals completed in January.

Why not just replace the headline with "Whitey is a comin! Hide under your bed!"

Well in his defense his source probably left it out so they can politicize this report so he probably wasn't aware of it.

Edit: well it looks like it wouldn't matter if they had so theres no defense for him. He just as hysterical as the other wingnuts.

You lose a debate when you call names. Care to substantiate that, or was it a drive-by?

Saying "people who are concerned about illegal immigration," and "people using the first black president to recruit" is racial, sorry.

I reacted to you saying that "if the shoe fits" is an ignorant statement and still you are FOR profiling.

THAT doesn't fit any shoe i know of.

That was all i was saying, if i meant to say something else, i would have.

I'll probably be a threat to the current Government of England because i plan to exercise my right to vote out that twat Brown. (i know that is not what you meant but it's not up to me to assess whether i could be a threat, others will do that after i get through the debriefing process)

Quite likely because the left-wing radical report hasn't been reported by the MSM.

OTOH, the one against right wing radicals has been widely reported. For some reason it has been all over the news.

We've even had threads here about it before (i.e., this is a repost but the search function isn't working for me ATM).
