Homegrown Copper Heatsink Question

I am thinking about making my own copper heatsink in my manufacturing class but I was wondering what metal is used for the clip that holds the heatsink to the plastic lips on the socket-a connector on the motherboard. Also, if you know of a good article on the internet that talks about making your own heatsink then could you please send the link my way? Thanks in advance 🙂

Because the tension of the clip is critical to proper function you might consider using a manufactured clip and machining your heatsink to match the factory design in this area.

I agree

Nah, if you have the tools to make it then why use someone else's design? Use some high tensile strength stainless steel.

I agree with budman, that would be the safest, seemingly easiest way (dont have to have the right balance inbetween too hard and too soft of a clip)
