homebuilt alternative to 775 push-pin wanted

I decided that I was tired of troubleshooting my motherboard/cpu problem so I went ahead and bought the following combination to put in my existing system:

Asus P5Q-E
Intel E8400

My question is in regard to my heatsink. I currently have the Xigmatek s1283 and I want to reuse it because I think it is better than the Zalman 9500 I have sitting in my closet. My concern is that I HATE the push-pin system and I want to be able to screw it down to the motherboard. My problem is that I want to do this tomorrow and I do not have time to order one of the bracket attachment kits online. Has anyone used nylon washers and other items avail. at a hardware store to get the same results? I was thinking that I could create a back plate OR I could just reuse the backplate from the Zalman 9500. If anyone has some pictures or links to a successful venture in this area it would be much appreciated.

Cut the plastic clips out.

And use that hardware like so

its not difficult at all.

the hardest part will be getting the pushpins out.

and its much easier if you just clip them off instead.

AVC makes a screw in design for my compaq pc. I ordered a copper heatsink upgrade with heatpipes from newegg open box for only $7 plus shipping. It came with a mounting frame that is pressed on from under the board. It's much easier than the push on Intel heatsink. Only negative is the short wire to the 4 pin plug. It's only about 3-4 inches. This heatsink has built in springs so you can't overtighten it. I don't know if anyone carries it or how newegg got these for sale.
