Home wireless network having connectivity issues

Here's the setup...

Cox cable modem attached to a Linksys G SRX200 Router. Signal wise, there is no problem. the signal does not drop or anything. However, there are still connection issues coming from the modem (I'm guessing.) Because, after restarting the network, everything works fine. But, after maybe a few moments of idle time, I open IE and nothing. No connection. So, the only way to get the network to budge is to restart it. Could this be a modem issue? It's a tad old. Or, could it be something in the router config that I'm overlooking? I've updated the firmware and set all the proper settings and it's still doing this.

Please help!

Much appreciation,

Dave

when the network is down...

can you ping the router's LAN ip (192.168.1.1 is a quick guess for it's IP) and can you ping the ISP's DNS servers
