<< How about 3 out of 4? >>

You posted a link to the most 'popular'. Popular means a lot of people bought them! There are quite a few cars out there that LOTS of people buy like the Kia Sephia or any of the Hyundai models, but not everyone owns a Lexus, BMW, or Cadillac. You can't compare popularity with quality pg19.

Your high end brands are going to be Marantz, Denon, some of the higher-end Yamaha's, and B&K has some excellent offerings as well.

Pioneer Elite and Onkyo's are nice receivers, I'm not criticizing them, however, they simply aren't the BEST in their field. Pioneer is a consumer brand, meant for consumers to get the job done at a reasonable price. Onkyo used to be more high end than it is now, moreso it's a consumer brand now as well but still better than say Sony, JBL, or Pioneer.

Funny, I never used the word quality in my post :)

How do you know I wasn't implying that Plextor is the most popular, which, if you took a vote of the 45,000 members here, I'd most certainly say it would be, hence, my analogy stands (according to that chart).

So there!!! ;)

I don't know what you were IMPLYING but Plextor also has the best quality among the drives IMHO, and I think most everyone else on this board would also agree. I don't see what the point in looking at the most popular of anything is, it could be the most popular simply because of the price and not have anything to do with quality. Why would someone want to own something simply because everyone else does? If that's your way of thinking, you must own a Dodge Caravan or a Toyota Camry, a Dell computer, a sony stereo, and appliances bought from Sears. Come on. Don't bring the popularity crap in when we're talking about home theatre gear. We're trying to make quality recommendations here and if you can't help contribute, don't post.

Good thing you don't take this just a *tad* bit to seriously...

Snicker ;)

P.S. Something tells me that my recomendation (which I got, after being told by about 30 different people on the much respected Home Theater Forum ;) ) of Onkyo wasn't enough to warrant a mini-tirade like yours, but more power to ya ;)

- Toyota Carolla, but when you're 19, can't really complain :)
- Had a Dell 3 years ago, been building them myself ever since :)
- JBL S26's, S-Center, PB12 sub-w00f3r, and a 36-inch WEGA, all brand-new, all for under $2K :)
- I don't buy appliances :)

Heheh. Fight! ;)

I'm not a big fan of Marantz. All the one's I've checked out seem a bit overpriced for the features you get, and don't sound any different than a Yamaha when tested side by side with the same speakers. In fact, with a good quality Pioneer (not their low budget stuff), I can't hear the difference between a Pioneer and a Yamaha.

And I recommend the Toyota Camry to families - one of best built affordable mid-size sedans on the market. In this case, it is popular because it is good quality. I wouldn't buy one myself though. ;)
