show me the post..never worked with an 820 board or a bx133, and dont know much about fic components

and I never "ran" out of here, I have been constantly posting in the cpu/video forums.

I might have said the bx was a better chipset by intel in its prime but it is quite dated now.

and I might have said intel is known to have more stable and compatible driver releases for their chipsets vs VIA but I would not comment on performance

and what the hell of a difference would a pure 133 platform make? doesnt the 815e naitively support 133? why would you need anything more?

as far as the 820 isnt that the rambus based chipset? and as far as I am concerned that is a waste right now? I dont know I dont think about this stuff.

last thing I posted about was what cpu I should get to upgrade my celeron and how good my radeon is

I apologize, I've got the wrong person😱(the right person is rahvin, also in this thread). Disregard my posts.

But I remember you now, you're the one claiming what Maximum PC said about Celeron vs Duron was right. Yea that was it.

wait wait, can we get back to at home and stuff
i have at home in the ct area via at&T and i gotta say the only times i have probs with it is, A)when my stupid thinks he knows it all brother touches the frickin settings, and B) when i tried to use a dual nick sys and win 98se's isp sharing stuff, (has any body been able to get that to work???) i use winproxy cause that's what i've been usin, but when i tried usin microsofts sharer, it screwed it up, and recently my stinkin bro tried usin it again, and i'm gonna hafta spend the evening tonight fixin that mess. A question though, what is the tcp/ip stack, and how do you blow it?? the guys in my area seem pretty cool about stuff the guy who installed it left like 10 of the sh|tty nic's they use, and they where all 10's and we cant really use em at all cause the drivers blow. they did the wiring for the cable drop, and it's good stuff. really i've had nuthin but good service from em except when my bro touches the stinkin thing.

Ok to the @home stuff

before when I was networking in college between a win95 machine and a win98se machine I couldn't get ICS to work for the life of me in a dual nic computer, so I used wingate which was fine.

now that every machine on my network is 98 or above, and I have a more stable older machine which hosts the dual nic setup ICS has been working fine, and I havent even thought about using wingate again.

LXI what did I agree with maximum PC about with the celeron/duron? I dont remember?
if it has to do with upgrades I agree that if you have a bx board and you are short on cash a celeron/coppermine option is more valid

and I agree the durons run very hot and from what I read are quite fragile. But that is it.

oh well

k so bozack, your sayin ics from win98se works ok for you? Have you ever tried winproxy? well im gonna hafta try a few things and get back to ya with some questions, but thanx for now for your time.

Nope never used winproxy but I am sure it is similar to wingate.

yeah ICS works for me, I just make sure to have my network configured for client for ms networks not windows logon, for some reason that causes alot of problems

how bout the client machines, and stuff like icq and napster, do those have difficulty being configured, or what?

there was virtually no config needed for ICS, just went through the network control wizard and set everything up to connect through lan.

icq and napster worked fine

BCYL that sounds like a signal strength problem. I would make sure you dont have to many splitters on your cable lines. If it splits like 4 times before getting to the cable modem. The signal could be real weak and the host server might be dropping your connection when has to put out a lot of power to keep you stable.

whenever i try using ics, it kills all configuration of the host the host cant see any thing on the web any more, with winproxy the host is as if its the only pc on the cable i dont hafta config it like the clients, you mean it just went in and then on the clients you just told all the progs they were directly connected to the web and the soft worked? like i'd tell icq it was directly connected to the web, and windows networking, set if for tcp/ip? or do i just need netbui protocols on the clients?

This is the thread, Maximum PC was bullshitting about how Duron is only a hair faster than Celerons, the results were very questionable due to Maximum PC's bias, and you strongly agreed with them.

I only wish you heard about my problems with @hell when I was in NJ.... the Dr. said I can't talk about it any more because my hear may explode... now that I'm back in Ohio and have RR everything is fine.. thank god!
