I live in an apartment now and we have considered a home security system just for peace of mind. What systems are good and what is an average amount for the system and monthly fee?

Thanks

I have a security system here at the shop. I've never had a B&E, but one of the other businesses in this same building had five in five years. They finally installed a security system about 18 months ago, and haven't had one since.

I've always wondered how they work. Like, you open a window and the thing goes off. Do they put a sensor in every little place or something?

Well first we are getting renters insurance first off. Then the home security is next. We want something basically to fend off want to be theifs. We live in a really nice part of VA Beach but even still it happens. I would like to have one that alerts the fire department of fire if we are out of town or whatnot.

Both. Silent alarm that alerts the security company, and a nasty, painful siren that goes off.

If you do that in reverse order, it's likely that you can get a discount on the insurance.
