Home security system won’t stop going off

I wasn’t sure where to post this. So I hope here is OK. I just bought a new house, yay me. I had to go out of town to help take care of my mom and when I checked my internal security camera I Heard that some type of home alarm in my house was going off I have no idea why.

I didn’t really realize the house had an alarm until I thought about it because I have never touched with it or played with it and have had many people going in and out of the house while doing home improvements and nothing happened. I spoke with the previous owner who said that they had not use the alarm for two years and had not paid for any sort of service or anything. They even said that the company that set it up isn’t even in business anymore.

I want to know if anybody would have any clue as to why the alarm would be going off. I had a friend walk around the house and it’s perfectly fine no one has broken and no window is cracked or door ajar. It’s going to be a few days before I go home and I want to know ahead of time what to expect and if it’s going to be easily disabled. Additionally does anybody know if you don’t pay for an alarm service for many years and then I just yank the thing off the wall to shut it up are the cops going to be called. Thanks in advance.

It's probably failing sensors and/or dead battery. Find the panel, disconnect power, disconnect battery and you are done. No one is monitoring, so no one is going to be called.

Honestly, I would not rely on those old alarms. The company does not exist anymore, you do not know why the previous owner turned them off. Maybe they worked wrong or aven did not work. If you are going to live there for a large period, I would recommend you to install a security system. You should compare several brands and make a decision. Do not consider the companies that do not make any improvements, their products are old-fashioned. I can recommend you to pay attention to the Ajax security system, it is a professional solution that will save you time and money.

Ajax security systems send all your data to the government and KGB (allegedly). Do not install one unless you want Putin kicking in your door while riding a horse.

does ajax even sell security systems in the usa? why would i care if the government knows when my door is open or closed? i dont have microphones hooked into my security system or cameras they are a different network. i use samsung smart things with alerts, alarms, i did have a few false alarms, solved by sensor placement, it went off from hot air movement i believe.

From experience, I believe they are a popular company with spammers. 😉
