home security camera systems

I need to have home cameras set up within a year, covering driveway, garage, back yard, and interior entryways.

I can get away with four easy but would prefer 6-8 cameras total. Ive seen alot of stand alone wifi cameras and also 4-8 dvr wired camera setups im considering.

Things imporant to me, android mobile camera viewing, and the ability to view all cameras on a LCD on basement floor and first floor.

Anyone have any opinions or experiences to share?

Im picturing having one dedicated PC on xp pro or win7 with multi monitor output pc running video to the lcd monitors, since probably most use PC Software to manage the camera feeds.

I was considering this also. If I did have a camera system installed, I thought it would be best to run it on a seperate computer system stored in the attic on a battery backup. If you were broken into, most people are tech savy enough to know that the camera video files would be stored on the home computer.

that's my goal too...I have a WHS2011 server that will allow me to store, view and control. I'm going to investigate using the cloud as my backup keeping only only the recent footage online...in the event they take my PC ; )
