lol. a kid on my hall last year had a really sore throat one weekend. and we went out to go drink and i remember him trying to convince me that alcohol would help numb his throat and make it feel better. he actually said it worked, though that could have been the dozen beers talking.

agreed. osmosis?

I have extended the practice to include snorting the salt water through my nasal passage and spitting it out.

It's nice... really clears you out.

this is the best idea.. and make it hot water.. basically as hot as you can tolerate, 8 oz with a full teaspoon of salt in it.

orange juice helps a bit, plus the vitamin c is good to keep your immune system healty.

and yes, also as stated above tea's with honey help soothe the throat

hot water and salt = best tho

Tea with honey and lemon.

And ALWAYS keep OTC cold remedies on hand. A cold can pop up at any time and sometimes you won't be able to run out to the drug store. Invest a buck in a package of good throat lozenges. They're way more effective than any home remedies.

If you were good looking, young, and female i would tell you that a dose of Dr Homer's Two Ball Root Tonic would do the trick...
