Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place for this problem but:

My son did a stupid thing. On his computer he uses AOL instant messenger constantly. One of his buddies put a link in an away message. My son stupidly clicked on the link. It was an adult site. The link changed his home page to the adult page and we can't change it back. We go into internet options change it and then it changes back to the adult site. Any suggestions? Thanks

you have an embedded program now, with registry entries, that runs on startup.
Download Spybot and install it, update it to the latest profiles, and it will most likely cure the problem.

What I did before reading the latest posts:

I unintalled Instant Messenger. After it was removed a file named av.exe in the C: root directory tried to activate itself about 15 times leaving little error dialogues. I cleared those rebooted and reinstalled AIM and it appears to be working OK. I found av.exe and tried to delete but it would not let me. I removed it from the startup menu. Will the spy or adware help at this point? Anyone know what av.exe is? Is it a legitimate file or something placed on the hard drive by a spy program?

av = ad virus
hehe
i dunno really, but i think you found it
here's a trick for un-deleteable exes: rename it, it will let you
then reboot, and it won't start up because you changed the name
then delete it.
